Android on Steam Deck! Waydroid Guide - NO DUAL BOOT NEEDED!

A quick guide to running Android on your Steam Deck using Waydroid (LCD or OLED). This can be accessed directly from your Steam library and lets you download Android apps and games, including offline Netflix!

Konsole Install Commands:

cd ~/
cd ~/steamos-waydroid-installer

Konsole Uninstall Commands:

cd ~/Android_Waydroid

starting waydroid through applications results in the icon showing up in the taskbar for a second before disappearing.
typing "waydroid session start" in the terminal tells me that 1) WAYLAND_DISPLAY isn't set. 2) whatever it defaults to doesn't work. ('/run/user/1000/wayland-0'). thought this was supposed to be a simple install?
can't even uninstall. if I run the uninstall commands, the system just complains that the file/directory never existed to begin with.

I'm almost fully convinced that the only thing this script does is install malicious software, as if it's not doing what it's supposed to, what the hell is it even doing?

I can't get past the part where it wants my sudo password because it just doesn't let me type. Then when I just hit enter, it says it's the wrong password. I am locked :<

I've done everything and gotten to the enter sudo password part right before it does it's big download but I can't figure out how to type the text in, I hit the steam button plus X to bring up keyboard and my text won't appear on the konsol screen

I think the biggest perk of an Android install would be an increase in battery life. Obviously you won't benefit from that with the Waydroid method. I wonder what sort of runtime you could expect on the deck with it running Android as the primary OS?

i get errors about the waydroid container not initializing after i run it one and reboot. something about dbus. what should i do?
