"All that is now, and all that is gone, and all that's to come, and everything under the sun is in tune, but the sun is eclipsed by the moon" - Pink Floyd
Tribute to Jobu Tupaki from the amazing movie Everything Everywhere All At Once, played by Stephanie Hsu.
This is honestly one of the best movies I've ever seen in my life. It's like Cloud Atlas, but absurdist, and meta. It really lives up to its name.
Song is a remix by Mr Wizard to "Eclipse" an original song by Pink Floyd, arranged for the movie Dune by Hans Zimmer.

What makes Jobu Tupaki one of the greatest villains in movies is that she is not motivated by any purpose or meaning. Similar to her fashion sense. It is not logical, and she puts it on just because she can. Her only pursuit in fact is to eliminate any meaning, purpose, or significance in every universe. Contrast that to villains who want world domination or to reduce half of life in universe. They can be beaten because they will always have something to fail on. Jobu on the other hand does not care about consequences.

She is of course a metaphor of Evelyn's daughter Joy. Joy feels like she is letting everyone around her down. Especially her family. She feels inadequate, out of place, unattractive, and worthless. This is why she wants to escape purpose or meaning. Because without any significance in life, there will be nothing to hurt for. And yes, life can reward you with those little moments of happiness, but in the end its all just a meaningless cycle of hurting over and over again.

Evelyn goes through a journey of realization that she is in fact part of that vicious cycle. Like her daughter she feels that she is living an unfulfilled life. She was also disowned by his father. Like joy she is getting tired of the seemingly pointless and repetitive cycles that lead to nowhere. This is the reason why Jobu wants Evelyn to be sucked in the Bagel.

For a while Evelyn seems to have given up, until enlightened by Waymond. She goes through a journey to realize that in any version of her life, there will always be something missing. Nothing will ever be perfect. BUT she can always find something to love. This is best exemplified in the universe were people had hotdogs for fingers. People can use their feet to play music or comfort each other. Its is through acceptance of those imperfections and cherishing any moments of happiness life can give her that makes everything worth it. And that is the essence of love. Acceptance.

In the end both mother and daughter choose to accept each and always be there for each other.
