Description: "Ode to Joy" is an ode written in the summer of 1785 by German poet, playwright, and historian Friedrich Schiller and published the following year in Thalia. A slightly revised version appeared in 1808, changing two lines of the first and omitting the last stanza.

"Ode to Joy" is best known for its use by Ludwig van Beethoven in the final movement of his Ninth Symphony, completed in 1824. Beethoven's text is not based entirely on Schiller's poem, and it introduces a few new sections. His tune was adopted as the "Anthem of Europe" by the Council of Europe in 1972 and subsequently by the European Union. Rhodesia's national anthem from 1974 until 1979, "Rise, O Voices of Rhodesia", used the tune of "Ode to Joy".

Beyond the pretensions of politicians, the Hymn to Joy is certainly a popular symbol. For this reason, in 1970 the singer Miguel Ríos presented a pop version in his 1970 album Despierta.

The lyrics were adopted. Since then, it has become known to all Spanish-speaking countries as a symbol of peace, freedom and fraternity.

I firmly put this version at the actual most beautiful rendition of Ode to Joy. This is majestic; especially the orchestral parts.

Goosebumps before the anthem of the Supranational Union that unite us. At last the European peoples and civilizations embrace each other in peace. Independence of our countries, but unbreakable friendship, together we can be stronger.
La hermosa lengua digna de su hermosos patria y pueblo en la que me expreso, LINGUA HISPANICA, makes rivers of tears flow like narrow rivers through gorges, my beloved homeland Spain, my beloved European Union, the Union of a continent rich in all aspects, from the cultural and economic through the linguistic, architectural and historical aspects. Europe's diversity must be protected.
Long life Andalusia
Long life Spain
Long life Europe and the European Union.
Long life our rich civilazations
Long life the Christendom

I'm not European, I am an american with mexican heritage, but "Ode to joy" has never failed to make me cry. My country feels like it's on the verge of falling apart, or at least falling victim to the plague that is fascism. Europe has seen those horrors, and wants to avoid such a thing happening ever again. This spanish rendition is particularly of the utmost beauty, as while the original German version is vaguely suggestive of peace and brotherhood, the spanish version leaves no room for interpretation. They the same but more directly suggest that all of man in an effort to escape suffering should come together, to recognize their brotherhood. That gives me hope. Hope that I am not alone. Hope that there are endless choirs worth of people wanting to recognize a global brotherhood, and it is a dream fulfilled, as Europe's union is one the most integrated place in the world. It is my personal dream to someday move to any EU country, although with Spain being one of the most attractive because of them speaking a language that is the most familiar to me, and instead of feeling like I have to learn 4 languages, I would only have to learn 3. My 2nd is Esperanto, and my first is English, duh.

I think this is my favorite rendition of Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee. The vocals are fantastic, perfect for this Spanish version, and the instrumentals are truly swelling, smoothly flowing, just beautiful and perfectly moving. I loved it! Thanks!
