Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner FLEE tells the story of Amin Nawabi as he grapples with a painful secret he has kept hidden for 20 years, one that threatens to derail the life he has built for himself and his soon to be husband. Recounted mostly through animation to director Jonas Poher Rasmussen, he tells for the first time the story of his extraordinary journey as a child refugee from Afghanistan.

I saw this movie in the cinema last summer with a friend. I have never experienced an audience being so quit when the movie was over, we all just needed time to take it in.

We need more animated documentaries. I hope it gets Oscars, it would be the first animated documentary to be nominated Best Documentary and probably to win it as well. It would also be the first non English documentary to win Best Documentary and to win Best Animated Feature. First animated movie to win Best Foreign Language Film. And first documentary to be nominated for Best Picture. Second non English film to win Best Picture and first animated movie to win Best Picture
