I've seen A LOT of drapery tutorials and this was the first to make sense on an intuitive level and stick for me. Thanks mate

I started drawing when i was little thinking it was all about imagination and talent.

Turns out it is about anatomy, lighting, physics and other stuff you would never, as a beginner, relate to drawing and painting.

Still, it makes it more interesting and funny.

Thank you very much for the video. Very instructive.

james: blah blah blah... *draw samples*
me: ...sigh *with watery eyes realizing how puny my art is*

this probably THE MOST helpful tutorial on clothes I've EVER seen. Every other tutorial is literally just like "draw clothes like this" and never shows you how or why. but this one actually show the techniques and physics behind it. thank you so much for this

James, this is marvelous!! Thank you. I'm passing it on to our students at the Angel Academy of Art, Florence (I'm the Director of Studies). DIAPER, by the way, is an architectural term for any kind of material that spans an area (hence the American baby's bottom).

These drapery videos explain so much that I've wondered about. Understanding the types of folds and the mechanics behind each makes it so much easier to parse reference photos and pick out what features of folds to emphasize.

Lol, 'Today's video is brought to you by me!' well that's a relief.

This is taught so amazingly well, through simple explanation and intuition. I can almost feel the pull of the fabric on the figures that you draw, starting to understand where the pinch points are and how the fabric is pulled in different directions. Thank you!

This is hands down the best tutorial on clothing folds I have watched. It’s expansive and he shows you examples on the human body. The length may be inconvenient to some but this tutorial is worth it

My art teacher had me come to this video because I've been having trouble with shading and drawing clothing on figures, and dang I needed this! Now I've got some killer notes in my sketchbook, and i'm ready to tackle my portfolio piece. Awesome video!

Even the arrows are drawn beautiful with perspectives and such.

I'm not even learning about cloth but something else.
But the classical music and the narration just had such a great calming effect it's helping me as learn perspective and shading.

Thank you. this simplifies the whole concept of folds into "moves" that can be applied universally. On the last set of maquettes I was actually able to anticipate your decisions. I look forward to practicing this.

That was some damn good teaching. Gonna watch this over and over to grasp all the information in it.

I expect this should be very helpful. You wouldn't believe how difficult it can be to find a drawing book about the folds in clothing and fabric these days.

This is definitely one of the best tutorial on the subject of folding of cloth, very comprehensive and pave the way for making purposeful observations in the future! Thanks a lot! 😊

I’ve learned more from drawing what you draw, as you draw it then I’ve learned from any other art tutorial I’ve ever watched/read. As a jobless highschool student your lessons have proven invaluable, and my gratitude is infinite.
