Lusail City may soon become a household name. The metropolis, located north of Qatar’s capital Doha, will host the FIFA World Cup 2022. The city’s inception has been a tremendous undertaking— it has taken 17 years and billions of dollars to dredge the city from marshland at the edge of the desert. But what does the construction of a massive new development mean for Qatar's future?

Cost of living is shooting up due to high expectations on FIFA. Apartment rent, car rent, etc not sure why the law makers not interfering on this. There are some real estate companies increasing rent by 45% such as ezdan oasis etc however the law says maximum 10% increases is permitted. Law and the reality are contradicting.

i dont get how Qatar or these gulf countries plan on getting industries/businesses ? like without them these modern high end infrastrucre cities are pretty much usless. The main reason why they can manage all the cities very well is because they're not democratic country where people always fighting to win election. Look what happens to Venezuela a country with the massive reserved of oil in the world but everything has ruined because of politic.

This is an advert for Qatar and not news. Why is an organisation like Bloomberg looking at this project without any criticism? They're 'green' because they've put in a trainline. Well done! You know what isn't 'green'? Building an entire new city with no demand. What about the migrant slaves building them? What about the gay people who will be put in jail? What happened to journalism?
