Babi Yar Massacre - The Forgotten Prisoner Uprising (Ep. 2)

Babi Yar was one of the greatest crimes of WWII. The Germans determined to 'sanitise' the site of the massacre by destroying all the buried bodies. For the concentration camp inmates forced to do this grim work, they faced a choice between being killed by the SS or staging a mass breakout in the hope that some could survive. This is their story.

It's poetic that the prisoners found the tools of their escape on the bodies of the dead, they had been forced to dig up and burn. It's like the dead were helping them escape.

Absolutely disgusting what some people can do to others. Thank you for sharing this story Mark, the victims deserve it to be heard.

I am very glad to hear 15 escaped from this unimaginably terrible situation.

These people that escaped and or tried to escape were incredible people, against all odds and against the worst horrors known, they found it in their hearts to fight back and survive when all else was hell. true hero’s.

Mark is the only Youtuber that can keep me watching a 20 minute video with no video, just audio.

This was one of the most heinous atrocities that occurred under Hitler's depraved regime.

Thank you, Dr. Felton, for bringing these incidents to light.

Imagine trying to fight for your life when you've been starved for years.

Beautifully narrated Dr Felton. If it wasn't for the incredible bravery of these walking dead we would be lost to history for the horrors they experienced. Thanks for sharing!

For anyone who wants to know more: in 1966 Anatoly Kuznetsov, a Soviet writer, first published a novel “Babyi Yar” based on his memories as a teenage eyewitness. It was translated into many languages.

It is nice to know that people did fight back. Too many times we forget that their spirits, though crushed, rose from their situation when all hope was lost. Thanks Dr. Felton for this story.

This excellent video proves that free nations need strong militaries. Anyone who thinks this cannot happen again is living in a dream world. Evil is aggressive, ever present and nearer that most may choose to believe. As it’s said, “those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.” Thanks Dr. Felton for the reminders.

“They are fighting over potatoes not knowing that tomorrow they won’t need any anymore”

What a truly horrific statement. These people were pure evil
