I love how Dr. K speaks to the guests with that sort of positive reinforcement type attitude but also makes it informative and accurate while doing so. It makes me feel so happy 🥰🥰🥰

Flow state is a amazing. Definitely feels a lot easier to enter it when you get enough rest and aren't constantly overstimulating yourself.
Nowadays it's weird because I feel like the only time I can enter flow state is when my brain goes into troll mode fighting my casual friends in a fighting game. Anytime I try to improve at the fighting game, or if anything is on the line I get too distracted by what I "should" be doing, and there's always a tiny part of the brain that reminds me how I've failed a million times in the past, this probably won't change now, so stop wasting time and stop playing the game.
Really gotta get back on my meditation, sleep schedule, and diet. It helps make life feel like easy mode I swear. Just hard 'cuz once I get tired, it kinda triggers my younger gamer self's thought process of "Oh we're tired? It must be mindless grind time now to make sure everything is completed quickly". Really hard habit to remove.

Flow is… amazing.
I once practiced a song on an instrument, got into flow, and it sounded, amazing.
Went to preform.
Wasn’t in flow, got nervous about the audience….

Yah… not good.

As someone with adhd who works as a freelancer I find it super important to reach flow state at least once a day for productivity. I’ll def be thinking about this next time I’m struggling to reach it

That is fascinating, with my adhd I have found myself needing to distract my mind just a little bit because I did notice that overthinking made me go into manual mode. I guess not being too self conscious in the moment can get you to a flow state.

What really sucks is that bigger ambitions with lots of intention require constant thought about the future. Most of my time goes to practicing to trust myself with the future.

I love getting into a flow state while I'm writing. I can just keep going and going, and it feels like fresh ideas just keep coming. The concept explains so much why ideas don't always come easily when distracted or anxious about something, because those things are too future focused.

Big reason why I miss riding motorcycles is because of the clearing effect of the flow state - nothing else matters except the current moment and whatever your doing. Afterwards I feel lighter, clearer and sharper - keen to get back to riding soon to remove the foggy rust of life

Flow is beautiful. It's a state where you are doing without having to think. It's also a state where, if you do think, you automatically leave it.

So the flow state requires us to be in the present 🤔

My main hobby is rock climbing. When asked why I like it so much, there's...a lot of reasons. I think I can distill it down to that climbing COMPLETELY engages me while I'm doing it. Of course I'm not able to achieve that every time I climb, but when I do, it's the best feeling ever.

100% of our problems happen when we think about it. If we were cows, we have no problem, just flow.

I’m almost always in flow state when playing basketball, since I always visualize really any possible situation before I step on the court so when a situation I’ve visualized happens I basically follow through automatically making every right decision

flow state: children playing. they are only thinking about the game.
Adults working: thinking about the future: if the boss is going to like your work, thinking about the self: how people are perceiving you in the company.

"You're either thinking about the past, present or future"
My brain: How about all 3 at once?

I miss flow state.

I used to just live in it for weeks at a time.

My life is so tumultuous and dynamic.
I'm hoping to find some stability where my fears aren't validated to get back there.
While I know flow state should be achievable anytime, I've made some commitments that are a bit of a gamble. It's hard to be in the flow while looking around going "I hope it works for just a little bit longer!"

I don't have the confidence of Capt Jack Sparrow sailing to the dock on his sinking skiff.

it’s all unprocessed emotions too that keeps you from staying grounded in the now

In my experience, the most possible way to access flow state is to learn to accept things. Like, nothing will stand in your way if you let it pass through. Thoughts, tiredness, anxiety, ....
Oh, and a right amount of coffee too, can't forget that 😂
