Indeed, the network player from WiiM offers an excellent combination of quality and affordability, perfect for expanding your stereo system on a minimal budget. However, as always, there is a dark side. Let’s take a detailed look at the advantages and disadvantages of the WiiM Mini, compare it with competitors, and draw conclusions!
WiiM Mini can be easily integrated into any audio system. The main features include support for various streaming formats, the ability to connect to analog and digital sources, and a rich set of functions for convenient control.
The device includes a digital optical output port. WiiM Mini can serve as a transport for connecting to a high-quality DAC or amplifier with a DAC. A Toslink cable is included. The analog 3.5mm jack output allows the device to be connected to any amplifier, even a vintage one, using the built-in budget DAC from Texas Instruments - Burr-Brown, PCM5121, supporting resolutions up to twenty-four bit / one hundred ninety-two kHz, Hi-Res. Cables from 3.5mm to RCA and 3.5mm to 3.5mm jack are included. The 3.5mm analog input allows you to connect one analog device, such as a vinyl player or cassette deck, and stream music to other rooms using Multiroom. For power, there is a USB-C port. A cable and adapter are included!
WiiM Mini can be controlled by voice using Amazon Alexa and Apple Siri when connected via Wi-Fi to devices with voice support (such as Echo, iPhone, HomePod, etc.).

It's worth noting that statement that sound customization is limited in compare to more expensive solutions is false. Wiim mini has full parametric EQ, fully capable of performing profesional room correction. There no such powerful tool in many expensive streamers - like bluesound. In comparison with ultra models there is only one difference - peq can be set independently for l/r channels. Only in this aspect wiim mini is lacking.

Regarding chromecast, this one is needed only for yt music. But yt music is planned to be supported within app with future updates.

App as such is far, far, far better than any other competition - like eversolo, bluesound, Sonos.
