In this magic sleight of hand tutorial, I teach how to do the retention false overhand shuffle straight from my repertoire. A stone cold classic that has never let me down.

Nice! I love the overhand shuffle and false shuffles with it, there are so many things you can do with it, it looks great and natural, you don't need a table or anything. Probably the best place to start for anyone who wants to up their magic and become more serious :)

Very nice! At first I thought no way it will look as good and easy as you did. BUT it works! Great way to produce 4 ACES.

That is super easy to do and you made it even easier to learn.

Awesome Cavan. This looks very convincing. I can’t wait to use this instead of so many false cuts.

I personally do more full deck false shuffles (because I feel like why do a retention shuffle when I can just do a full deck false shuffle) but learning a retention shuffle is still very useful.

This is great Cavan! I am always looking for a new false shuffle to practice. I only do one false overhand shuffle, so I can't wait to practice this and then use it.

Keep up the amazing work!

In 3:58 you said that the card/s can also go to the bottom. If that's the case, how can we do the false overhand shuffle to control and keep it at its place?

When ever i do this I've never thought of using my finger before, I keep it messy like you said but out jog the cards I want to attain, may try the finger one because the way i do it is a bit tricky, id be more confident this way to maintain eye contact with the participant, and not worry about looking down when I grab the retained stack at the end.
