Spring is the story of a shepherd girl and her dog, who face ancient spirits in order to continue the cycle of life. This poetic and visually stunning short film was written and directed by Andy Goralczyk, inspired by his childhood in the mountains of Germany.

The Spring team used the development version of Blender 2.80 for the entire production, before the software was in official Beta even. As for all of Blender’s Open Movies, the entire production process and all its source files are being shared on the Blender Studio website.

The fact that blender made a FREE software for this level of animation just makes my level of respect for the people that work on it go WAY UP.

Blender is free...
It doesnt mean that it has no quality...
This movie proves it...
I'm proud to be a blender user

Didn't knew one cube could turn into a whole dreamworks animation.

Ugh. Animation is so hard. People who do this for a living deserve more credit and respect.

You can really start to appreciate stuff like this after struggling to make it through the donut tutorial.

I respect blender so much. Its an amazing software and its 100% free while adobe products are so expensive i as a student in a poor country cannot afford it. Blender makes so many dreams possible, bless people who decided to not focus on profits but on the users. We love you!

For all of you who are learning how to make a donut just like me, know that some of the people who know how to make these wonderful animations are reading these comments and thinking "I was one of them learning how to make a donut..." So don't give up, I hope someday to see one of your animations on youtube as well!

I see so many people talking about the animation, but no one is talking about the story, I mean, it's so heart warming and also leaves loads of room for your own imagination.

This is in Disney, Pixar and DreamWorks levels of animation quality and storytelling. It's just fantastic!

Imagine just how hard the 3D animators work to make this perfect... We should support them as they must have worked very hard for this perfect result and took a lot of time...

To think this was made in Blender 2.8, before Geometry Nodes, blows my mind. This short film really is a work of art. But imagine what you could do in later versions. This is simply amazing.
