P2W or F2P doesn't matter anymore when you want to have the skin of your favourite character. Even I am considering buying Diluc's skin. Having skins have nothing to do with being P2W or F2P, if you like it and want it, buy it. If you don't want it, then don't buy it. Simple as that

Being F2P is a form of self control and an understanding that you don't need to have everything nor do you need to spend money on a game. It's a healthy mindset.

i think in genshin a lot of people mix up ftp and ptw. ftp is not spending any money at all. ptw is spending money to gain an upperhand in something that you normally would have to take more time or grind harder or both. buying genesis crystals would make you a ptw and not ftp, while cosmetic changes doesnt make you a ftp player. anyhow it doesnt matter whether you are a ftp or not. people make such a big deal when an account isnt ftp. if you like a cosmetic or character you want to get in game, and you have the money for it, go for it. if you think it’s worth the hundreds, and maybe even thousands of dollars, then go for it. for me, i am a light spender who has spent around $50 on some battle passes and welkins, and id say genshin is worth around that amount. i wont be spending anymore money on genshin as my christmas money and birthday money has ran out, but im glad i spent the money i did. i am not ftp, but i dont care because i am content with my account. thanks for reading

Im a f2p since the beginning of genshin because FOR ME being a f2p gives me challenge and enjoyment to the game. But when it comes to skin I dont mind buying it because its just skin. It wont deal 1 million dmg because I have the skin.

Why do these f2p or whale labels exist like they are badges you have to wear to prove you are in one faction or the other. Buy whatever you want in this game or not, it literally does not matter.

That's one of the reasons I bought the Keqing Skin and sacrificed my F2P status very obviously.
The skin basically doesn't change anything and yet it's so much more important to me than more DMG in a game that's too easy.

What else do you want to achieve if even as F2P with Keqing as one of Main Characters the Abyss is too easy.

I feel some amount of satisfaction when I see those 2x bonuses on genesis crystals in store...Even if I buy genesis crystals for a skin those 2x bonuses are gone and I will lose some amount of satisfaction

The definition of F2P has changed so much recently. In the past, F2P meant 0 money spent on the game regardless of whether it gives a boost to the account or is just a cosmetic change. But, now somehow people justify spending money and still calling the account F2P. If you spend 20 bucks for anything in a game, then the account is no longer F2P. Just accept that the account is a low spender account now.

You can in fact still be a free to play If you end up buying the skin BECAUSE you just want to look cool, There is no advantages on doing so.

People take the definition of f2p so literal and seriously....the term f2p in gatcha means anything performance wise you obtained without spending money. I dont want people thinking they cant buy a COSMIC SKIN because they will lose their "f2p are still f2p.

I understand his point and its very valid, the idea was to prove that you could play genshin as a f2p and that has been done many many times before, so there is no point in hammering that nail anymore
