I’m 70, and have been riding the Addmotor M-340 trike for a year on curving roads in Montecito. Care must be taken on sharp curves- I lean to keep the rear wheels on the pavement, and reducing speed is essential. I’ve never fallen on the trike. I’m always peddling to get exercise, and set the power at two, and the gear in the midrange depending on the steepness of hills. It’s been incredibly fun, I get on and begin smiling for my entire ride, which is 35-55 minutes. It’s great exercise as I work up a sweat. The only caveat is to go slow when turning. The M-340 is very powerful, I only increase the power to 3 when confronted with steep roads. I love riding it daily.

I am an 83 year old and have an Electric 3 wheeled bike, the Lectric XP. I have had it for about 1 1/2 months now. I love the damn thing. I knew the difference between a 2 wheel bike and 3 wheel bike when I ordered it. Of course it rides different, but most people are going to catch on to that very quick. I've ridden twice now out to my favorite fishing hole. 7 miles. 3 miles of pavement and 4 miles of dirt. I enjoy the ride more than the destination. Going to be tuff to put it away when the snow comes again. I got the 3 wheeled bike because I do have days when I'm not real stable. I don't worry about it on the trike. Give us old folks some credit. We realize you have to lean into the corners, and slow down. That 10 to 13 mph is fine for me. I've never tried to put it in the high speed mode. They say it only pick's it up to 14. Someday I'll figure out how to do that too. Right now I'm enjoying being outdoors on my trike. The cool mornings are the best. Enjoyed your video anyway. I like laughing at young people learning new things.

This is a real good video for people to understand how the bike feels. I have been riding my m360 since August on a daily basis. It was a little weird at first but now I am completely comfortable at whatever speed I would like to ride at. But it is so nice to see you guys put out a video to help people understand what it's like to be on a three-wheeler

I just received my M340 and am enjoying it so much. I am also having to learn to ride it correctly because it is different from a bike. I am 68 and this is my dream bike.

My wife has been driving this same trike for two years and she is 74 and has no issues whatsoever.

Hey guys, 74 yrs old here! there definitely a learning curve with my m340 addmotor trike. When I was a girl my family could never find me, I was riding my bike. I found what you said about the turning radius to be quite big and the feeling of falling over yep, it was there. got it to run my dog. I'm riding in my small town and the biggest issue is the folks on the paths etc. I've been riding now/using it for about a month, not daily because I live in the Pacific Northwest and it's been raining a lot. Have gotten up to about 13 miles an hour and I felt completely safe, watch my speed for corners bumps etc. Also, my opinion, you aren't giving we elders enough credit. We aren't stupid or careless and can learn new things, in fact learning new things is good for our brains, yours too matter of fact. I agree the center of gravity is way too high and I like the idea of putting weights in the trunk to lower it and add to the stability. I myself was wondering how to do that and viola' you gave me an idea. Maybe a three wheeler with two wheels in the front would be better. But this is what I have now and probably couldn't afford to get another trike.

Hi Ethan & Jesse, I was surprised to see our product finally featured on your channel as it was sent to you in April last year after you reached out to us and I have not been able to successfully contact you since 5 months ago.
It might not be a terrible idea to utilize your review to persuade people interested in stationary electric tricycles to pay more attention to safe riding before they ride.
All electric bicycles, whether they have two wheels or three, are prone to rolling over when not utilized properly.
We recognized this issue as well, thus the Addmotor M-340 electric tricycle features two rear wheels with a width distance of 800mm, as opposed to other electric tricycles on the market with rear axles that are 600 or 650mm wide. At the same time, the Addmotor electric tricycle's tires have been enlarged.
When turning, all e-trikes must not exceed 5 mph. When using the first gear on a pedal-assist system with seven different gears, the M-340 e-trike is capable of 8 mph and the speed is easy to adjust.
Therefore it is essential for everyone to follow the instructions provided when riding an e-bike.

Anyway, thank you very much for not making this product disappear.
Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay fun.

Oh for crying out loud! I have an Addmotor 330, have ridden it safely for 1400 miles my first season, and no worries. I'm an almost 80 year old woman. Took me only a few days to get used to my trike and I've never had even a close call. I'd recommend it to anyone who want to have a ton of fun and maybe can't ride a regular two-wheeler anymore. What a silly video.

i personally drove over 3000 miles on Etrike over the past 2 years, and I love it!!! I think the problem what you are describing in tipping off of the trike is due to your lack of experience of riding a trikes. It is a different concept between riding a bike and a trike. It is just my 2 cents to your video. LOL

Glad that you made this video to shed some light on the differences between a two-wheeler and a trike but I feel like you’re not giving the trike a fair amount of time. After riding 2wheelers for most of our lives, we instinctively know how to balance, lean into turns, use various leg positions and body shifts for maneuvering. These skills become so natural we forget that they took some time and practice to learn. When you ride a trike for the first time those instinctive behaviors no longer apply and new motor skills and balance techniques must be developed. I’m 63 and I own and ride manual bikes, ebikes and an etrike and yes, the etrike felt very unstable to me, at first. My etrike is a fat tire model, similar to the one reviewed here but without the foot platform. I have had it just over a year and have almost 500 miles on it. My advice for newbies would be to practice in a safe parking lot until you’re comfortable with getting on and off (use the brakes to hold the trike in place), starting and stopping, straight travel and then turns. Also remember a trike is capable of a very tight turning radius so keep the turns wide and slow until you get a feel for it. Also NEVER, EVER try to correct or slow the trike by putting your feet down. It’s a panic move and extremely dangerous. Better to roll over on your side than to have the momentum of the trike chew your leg off.

I love my e trike because I know enough to slow down for turns/curves

The other problem with a trike is that you can't see your rear tire so you can scoot over too far to let cars go by and not know your rear tire is going off the road.

Thanks guys for a most informative video. I'm an 85 year old grandpa who is shopping around for an e-trike thinking it would be a stable riding platform that I could comfortably ride without being challenged in terms of remaining in an upright position while I enjoyed some quality time in the great outdoors. In my research I've often run across passing admonitions about "taking time to get used to riding the [insert name of trike]..." and my reaction was what's to get used to? I mean it's just an overgrown tricycle, right? But after watching your video I now definitely understand the absolute necessity of restricting your speed while turning, especially as a beginner. And also the challenge of riding a trike on a cambered road. I've seen ads for trikes which have a two-wheels-in-the-front configuration which at the time seemed instinctlively to be a more turn friendly configuration. I think now I'll pursue that line of thought and see where it leads me. Good job, guys!

In the 70s there were 3 wheeled back country trikes that were very popular and dangerous. They were replaced by quads.

That board is not for your feet, your feet go on the pedals. It is for a grocery bag or small nippy dog that barks incessantly, something like that.

I haven't ridden a bike in a long time, but this past xmas we got a rickshaw style etrike so my special needs adult son and I can stay active. This means I have 150 lbs over the back two tires and I am 210 lbs. We have put 95 miles on it on mostly flat paved trails, with some in hilly areas. We love it. Its a lot of fun and it gets us out and about.

Here's the deal. If you think you are going to be mountain biking with your Etrike then you are either an adrenaline junky with a death wish or just plain stupid. I am a little of both. An Etrike is wonderful if you drive it with caution, don't make sharp turns or fast turns. I have no fear of its speed on straight aways. It doesn't feel unstable, but you better brake down to 4 or 5 mph before that next turn. Don't take it off road where there are a lot of bumps and potholes. When its bouncing, the front end will never go the direction you want it to go. DO NOT GO sideways on a slope, especially in sand or loose gravel. The Etike will try very hard to turn downhill and if you try to correct it to much to go back uphill the trike will tip. We tipped going slow on a sandy slope and the bike went over ever so slowly. So that was nice, I had time to get off and control the fall so my son didn't get flung out of his seatbelt. Lesson learned, stay off any trail thats bumpy or not at least hardpack.

Not a good video!!! you guys over exaggerated this video. However are you talking about this brand of tyke or all tykes?

I had the same model M340 and agree with most of your comments. Trikes are not very stable. I bought a very cheap trike that was 1/2 the weight of the M340 and that is better. I also cut the seat stem to make it much lower. I put a 140mm crank arm assembly rather than the standard 170mm on to extend the pedal stroke that helped also. I moved the battery to the back for a more balanced weight. Next up is a Quad. Henry Ford built a quad gas powered vehicle that became the model T? PS reverse trikes are not much better. They do have a tilting mechanism but if the front wheels are to close together you lose the stability.

All you need in order to NOT tip over on a trike is to NOT be an idiot. Put your weight on the pedals, put most of your weight in the inside pedal.

I'm a big fan of the Addmotor M340 electric bike. It's a great combination of comfort and power, making it the perfect bike for commuting and recreational riding.
