Another superb video. The ole Hammarlund looks and sounds great.
I know this is way after the fact, and you may already know about it, but RUST-OLEUM aged iron is a nearly exact matching texture and color as the original Hammarlund cabinet paint. Someone told me about it right after I got my 129X, so I bought a can and gave it a try. Almost perfect. In fact, I can't tell the difference.
I'm off to watch more of your entertaining and educational vids.

I got a lot out of this and the previous 50 minute video. The detailed troubleshooting contributed to my limited knowledge of boatanchor theory. I am looking forward to the alignment video.

I have done 2 of these 129X radio recently, various fixes electrically working 100 percent . when these radios are working properly, AM mode on broad cast is superb and CW and even SSB is good after a warm up on short wave bands. the intelligence on AM is excellent on AM also calibration can be excellent too but the calibration can be bit tricky. All in all a very fine radio and excellent made varible capacitors and coils. HQ 129X is a fine radio thanks for video K7PP

Nice work! I know it’s been awhile since this video. I’m starting the same rig this week. Just about to start. I’m going to have a similar issue with mods. I tried tracing the mod a little but I’ll need to dig deeper under some components to really see anything.

That rig's a mystery!  Someone actually did major surgery just to access the BFO switch for no other reason than to add a jumper keeping the meter bridge powered when the BFO is switched in?  Which does nothing functional.  Makes no sense.
