The dedicated 4G antenna, massive battery and rugged nature of this device has a use in the field. I personally have a UleFone Power Armor 18T and it is a fully fledged smart phone that is as rugged as this device, has a thermal camera and a massive battery. Dual SIM as well for my personal and work numbers on different carriers. I also have a dedicated PTT side button for Zello. Being an HVAC Contractor my UleFone has many uses, but seeing this reminds me of the Nextel days.

Never heard of 'em. Now I know, thanks. Cellphone marketed as a walkie talkie

Our company uses Hytera 4G handsets on a local cell provider's network. Sound quality is great. Delay is about ¼ second as near as we can tell. Great when we have operations in the field.

Hi Lewis, I have been looking for a network radio, but couldn't bring myself to spend the cost for something I can use my mobile for. Would like to see more videos on the other radios you have

Hi Lewis, first of all many thanks for your series on number stations….so interesting and the research must have been so time consuming. As for network radio, i would like to see more, I think from reading the reviews here, there is a consensus for more on this subject….apart from the odd objection. There is definitely a resistance towards it in some quarters…..but like king Canute, there is no holding back the tide. Thanks. Chris

Not bad considering the price, and also, I like how it has a dedicated 4G antenna. Not many devices nowadays have this, instead opting for internal antennae. I wish that devices had antennae that were more functional, even if it did knock the aesthetics of the device a little.

They are simply a dumbed down version of a smartphone period. A free PTT app is no different. Thanks for sharing !

i would like a video of a POC radio working as a zello gw. Some modeles support both UHF and Zello at the same time.

I can see how many people would find this type of device very handy indeed.

Maybe I'm old school,
as I just see it as a limited smart phone
& to me,
Real Radio
is HF hahahaha.

Its a great communication device for urban environment, don't have to worry about range or interference and with a global network sim, its possible to do voice chat to anywhere in the world. Just not something you can use off grid or in a disaster where the mobile phone system might go down.

Do you have a link to the ones you have listed for the US?

I'm so confused rn: What is this device for? It sounds like a rugged phone that cant make calls. Does it have LoRa?
Srsly: Please make a short follow-up video on what these devices are used for and what their purpose is 🤗🥺
thx!

Why do these things even exist? They're just 4G Android phones cosplaying as walkie talkies.

Earlier this month I attended the International Wireless Communications Expo in Las Vegas and I can definitely tell you that these push to talk over cellular, AKA "POC" Devices seem to be picking up in popularity. Even a business operation that could easily get away with inexpensive VHF or UHF simplex Handheld radios were using POC devices...

Man I would've bought one of these instead of the gmrs radios I bought a month ago if I knew they existed. I realize the advantage gmrs has of course but there's something about that battery life and endless range that gets me.
