I had this EXACT problem the other day. After watching the video, I went looking for corrosion around the battery posts. Such corrosion was not visible from my vantage point but looking a little more closely, sure enough there it was. Cleaned up the posts and car runs great. Thank you.

Thanks this helped a lot! My car battery was reading 12.5-12.7V but wouldn't turn over. Saw another video years ago where a mechanic suggested pouring hot water to clean off corroded terminals. So I poured 2 cups of hot water over the corroded positive terminal of my battery and made sure it was pretty clean. And then the car immediately started! I need to do a better job keeping the terminals clean. I knew the positive terminal was corroded but the car had been working well for months, so I arrogantly kept driving with corroded terminals 😂i'll never do that again!

COOL. If no power inside car - Touch battery cable with probe to check for power. If none Touch actual battery post. If there is power on battery post but not cable it means there is corrosion on the post. Clean battery post with wire brush and reconnect and car ignition should work again!

One of my two wires for the positive terminal snapped off when I replaced my battery.
It still made electrical connection to the chassis, which had me chasing red hairs for hours.
Maybe this will help someone who was as unfortunate as me 😢

This video is so overlooked, I'm thinking it was a relay when my car died brand new battery and alternator. So I would tap the relay thinking that was the problem until the trick didn't work anymore. I wiggled my negative battery terminal and lights came back on so I just tighten the post terminal some more. So far so good.

What was the point of this, the battery wasn't checked with a meter to determine how many volts it had, a nearly dead battery will light a test light .

Fellow humans...I bought a Hyundai Sonata bought a 2011 LE, 4 cylinder, automatic, push button ignition. It only has 37, 000 miles on it and the previous owner bought it new. She sold it to me because her two mechanics could not get it to function for her. It would sit for a few days and would not start. They replaced the battery and alternator. That didn't fix it. Right now it will not start or do anything at all, so it actually got worse. The battery is new and checked good (confirmed with part store check and deep charge). The main fuses I can see all look good. Nothing comes on. No exterior or indoor lights. No dash lights or gauges...nothing. Except, the push ignition button will lightly illuminate when I push it. Both key fobs will show a small red light when anything is pushed on them, but nothing happens. The trunk won't open, the alarm won't turn on, no door locks, nothing at all works. It does the same thing when attempting to jump start with 3 different vehicles. It did start occasionally for her with jumper cables and battery charge, but now it is entirely dead and nothing gives it power to crank or start, or any accessories or gauges. It's behaving like it has NO battery at all.

I have not connected a code reader to it, yet.

Questions:
1. Anyone have this occur? What fixed it?

2. Is there a way to test the key fobs to be sure at least one is working?

3. I know how to get the car in Neutral to push it around, but is there a way to get the steering wheel to turn? I hate push button crank cars!

Maybe I'll get lucky and someone has had this same issue that fixed it! Thanks!

My battery and alternator reads good, but every now and again my battery will be almost completely dead and I'd have to jump it off. That's what I jump it off, it will go weeks without any issues. Do you know if 2015 Chrysler 300 have power issues?

Why is there no power to the ignition switch?
My son has a 2000 Mercedes S500 V-8.
A so called mechanic told him it would cost $2000 to fix it.
He said that there is no power to the ignition switch.Can't he trace the power source? It could be just a fuse or a relay or, even a bad ignition switch!? A Mercedes mechanic said, if it/s not a bad fuse or relay, it's most likely the ignition switch. could there be a short to ground from the battery to the ignition switch?
