Ever wondered: What is the 'Paris Agreement', and how does it work?

This video explains the basics of the #ParisAgreement: the international UN treaty of 2015 that aims to tackle #ClimateChange head on.
It's central aim is to strengthen the global response to the threat of climate change by keeping a global temperature rise this century well below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, with ambition to limit the increase even further to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

Additionally, the agreement aims to strengthen the ability of countries to deal with the impacts of climate change.

We shall not achieve the stated target of a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. Frankly, I'm gobsmacked that target was agreed upon, back in 2015. Surely they knew it was beyond ambitious. The fact that it made it into the final draft leads me to believe they were not really serious.
