Marks and Spencer’s is basically Lidl for posh people... the food is all “own brand” except they charge 3 times more than Lidl

If huge companies are collapsing & making redundancies all over, how do they expect individuals or even small businesses to get by & survive???

Well that’s no surprise for goodness sake’s we have been in lockdown for two months but the food should help them to stay on top because it’s so good.

Is anyone seeing something positive within retail business? Is anyone making news for those business that are still keeping their employees? Rather than making news only about how many jobs people are losing, should we also mention how many jobs are being retained and secured too? Just a thought to brake this chain of negativity!

The LOCKDOWN effect.
But many big stores are taking advantage of the new normal under the current rules. Like long long queues..No hurrying to serve customers. Let them shop and wait. Cut down jobs...few staff and people will not complain.

Sow many shops and buisness are working with slow motion still making profits from those customers who are forced by the rules to become like zombies just standing in waiting in the those long painful ques to get in and to pay to get out...costing them more money for goods and so much time..

This jobs cutting is deliberate way to make more profit with slow motion thanks to all those customers who are willing to just seat and queuing .

This jobs cutting happening everywhere.
using the virus as excuse.

The worse economy crisis still yet to come.
That's is hard Brexit no trade deal.

Boris with DOMINIC CUMMINGS and others they all want a no trade deal regardless of the huge lasting impact in the economy.

Now they are talking to Trump about their agenda.Probably including the NHS privatisation at some point. The UK has to dump China before dealing with Trump. This is one of the US conditions.
The NHS may still be on table at some point. First dump China.. and the EU free trade. Than Trump will talk to DOMINIC CUMMINGS indirectly as hi is the one telling Boris and his team what to do.

M&S has been on a downward trajectory for decades mainly due to its poor clothing and homeware divisions in a hugely competitive market. Covid 19 is no excuse. It’s only the food department that keeps it going. Very sad news for the staff there. The senior management should have fixed the In store and online clothing offering issues ages ago. Its stubborn refusal and failure to do so has led to its continued poor results and job losses.

This reminds me of the collapse of the Co-op. It was their non-food division that got wiped out.

M&S. sucks anyway, over priced posh crap. Here is 3 rings of finest Greek calamari for £5.00. Can buy half UK shares in lidl for. That.

M&S are about 3-5 years late to be honest; Tesco & sainsbury's already made this decision years ago as they knew technology would take over traditional shopping. M&S is such a popular highstreet brand & they have such a legacy but at what cost do they drag out the inevitable? Now 950 jobs will be lost during a economic tornado, sad to hear but it was always coming.

Worked next to their office in Stockley Park. Still had expensive IT (outsourced) onshore so time now to move all offshore immediately.
