I appreciate your inclusive message to help people get into listening to music. As I get older I’ve come to realize I do more with the less expensive tool o have than the expensive one I never seem to get.
Especially when any one hobby or tool doesn’t exist in a vacuum, but is competing with many other important expenditures and priorities in one’s life.

Looking forward to this being released and hearing reviews of it. I have never owned a streamer, but I’m considering adding one to my 2.1 rig now. It simply seems so convenient. I’m old (70’s), and I think the future of Hi Fi is here. No telling where it will go from here, but I’m sure it will be in the digital domain. Judging from my grandson’s habits & lifestyle, I believe he would have an all digital stereo system. 🎶

Glad you showed that Lou Reed album because anyone who wonders about whether analog or digital sounds better get your fancy streamer and play Transformer

Then get an original pressing of Transformer on vinyl and play that on your modest Project debut/Rega P/fluance etc with your 2m blue/Nagaoka mp150 etc and your Schiit Mani and tell me what sounds better.

I bet my balls the vinyl wipes the floor with the streamer

I have a Wiim mini that I use with my headphone dac amp. It does a nice job for that setup. At this point, I prefer my Bluesound Node for my main setup. The next piece I am considering is a better dac to put inline with the Node.

I don't think I'd NEED a display on my Wiim streamer, but I'd FANCY one for sure 🙂
The new feature of room correction software is a step into the right direction I think (if the UX is good and if it works as good as the Lyngdorf variant).
Only thing missing from Wiim would be a powerful amp with the same footprint (Mytek has done that with the Brooklyn amp, but at a much higher price level than Wiim)

For a second, I was like wait, did Bob beat Randy to the punch with the WiiM Ultra?!?! Because let's face it without Randy WIiM wouldn't be as big as it is in the community. I would get one even though I have several because of the screen and the other interesting features that make my vintage setups the best of both worlds.

I love my Wiim mini's. Have 3 of them. I use an external DAC in every case, so not sure why I would need any of their other products, but the company itself it COOL. Great App and love the constant updates. Makes me believe they give a F***.

The new WiiM amp is a no brainer if it performs the same as the ultra, 40 dollars more for an amp, and 70 more than the last version, killer device for the money

I'm looking at this or the Eversolo for a new setup, possibly paired with the Fosi v3 mono amps. But I'm waiting on reviews etc of course, plus trying myself.

Squeezelite is a music protocol like Roon, but way older. First created by Slim Devices in the early 2000s. At the time they created various Squeezebox devices that were streamers with various different connections & roles. At somepoint Logitech bought out Slim Devices, and continued with them for a littlewhile before closing the line.
The software was always open source, so anyone can set up a Squeezebox server, to play to Logitech and Slim Devices. But other manufacturers could also add the client, Squeezelite in this case, so the server can play to them too.
It was my first digital multi-room music setup.

I'm hoping they eventually release something like an upgraded Wiim amp without all the streaming features. I don't need those at all but would love to see more affordable amp options with actual useful features like true sub out, EQ, crossovers, etc.

The ultra is gonna be big value for the money like all their products but this one is actually nice. They are also releasing the wiim amp pro.
