Subscribed. So far the most useful bass YouTuber for helping me actually progress.

A total newbie here: thanks so much for Tip #7 and E string. I've found plenty of alleged "beginners" videos that are overwhelming and boring, yours are clear and funny!!! Muchas gracias!!

This video was so entertaining. The “bonus tip” effect had me giggling. AND I learned so much.

How wow wow. Thanks a million for the tips.

Good tips, including the one about cutting the nails on the plucking hand. I do that regularly as I cannot pluck correctly without cutting the nails down. Also, I try to keep my thumb behind the neck instead of over the neck like when I played guitar. I also like the anonymous video posting idea at 03:58 😂.

Hello Tom, hope all well. Great channel, very very informative, Please could I request for some advice and guidance from you.
Started learning the bass a year ago and must say fab instrument! Loving it

my fretting hand thumb tends to ache while playing scales, particularly the G maj scale or the F# where the frets are spaced out

is it normal to ache in the beginning?

Or am I doing something wrong here you think?
What do you think needs to be corrected?

I don't think I'm pressing the thumb too hard as well, applying standard pressure and also trying to place it in the centre of the fretboard as far as possible

Any help or tips in this would be highly appreciated in order to strengthen the stamina of the thumb 🙏🙌

Certainly not a beginners lessons but slap grooves and hand independent tapping would be cool albeit, not for everyone. Watching beginners videos is always helpful no matter what level.

Dear Tom, I'm not very agree with all the Passive Bass dials in the middle... I'll go for all fullon ... seems simplier and more complete sound... ☺

New subscriber! My question is what bass strings are good for rare headless basses like my Steinberger and my Warwick?

There are so many times when I think my bass sounds like absolute trash, and inevitably my fingernails have gotten too long.

any advice for my bass that is very neck heavy?

Thanks for the tips. Think I get a foot stool. Can't play right sitting down.

I am shocked I only make two of these mistakes. But I do DESPISE Billy Jean, tried it a couple of times and nope, ain't gonna make me play this 😂 maybe it's easy for pros, but for me it's too much effort with too little outcome, I'd rather play "D is for dangerous" by Arctic Monkeys, it is also quite tiring, but sounds better XD
