I remember every year I bought a Guinness Book of World Records Video Game edition. Made me learn about various games.

Also those talk of quizzes about books brought back a lot of memories. I remember they were called AR Quizzes and I remember not doing well on them until they were removed

I remember when I was in 6th Grade, I tried to buy a book using the 10 dollars I had but the book was $10.50, when the cashier asked me for remaining half dollar, I was worried and did not know what to do. then my Teacher was walking by the library and he offered to pay the 50 cents for me. what an awesome guy.

These book fairs always gave me anxiety, because I would fear I didn’t have enough money for a book I wanted.

When people ask what my aesthetic is, I just point to the late 2000, Guinness World Record books.

I can’t forget how mad my mom got when she gave me money to buy books and I would come home with posters and scented pencils 😭

Book Fairs were always really hype when I was in elementary school! The shelves, how one of the rooms in the school was turned into a pop up shop (for mine it was the gym), and yeah, kids talking about how happy they were with their books and seeing them read them throughout the day, especially at lunch and Silent Reading Time.
My favorite one had to be when the 8th Captain Underpants book came out because I WAS WAITING FOREVER TO SEE WHAT HAPPPENED. I wasn't disappointed either, it was a wait that forever increased my patience, especially when it comes to the creative process!

I can go to the book store, which feels like an every day book fair, but it just doesn't have the same pizazz... I love my local one but it could never replace a book fair, not even by a long shot!

I loved the book fairs so much! Not only did I find a lot of really cool books, but I like how they typically give kids one of their first tastes of going shopping on their own.

I was never be able to purchase anything from the book fair back in elementary, but being able to look around and see what kind of books they had was in my opinion, good enough and a charitable experience than actually reading a book from there. I was infatuated with angry birds at the time as a little kid and saw they had a book comparing said birds to real ones and younger me's imagination couldn't handle it lol. Good times.

I remember actually reading the _Guiness Book of World Record 2001_ at the school library back in high school. The book cover is almost as glossy as diamonds though.

omg I remember the AR reading quiz things!! In elementary school they'd do a little shop at the end of the year where you could buy book, webkinz, stuff like that for points. And then in middle school I think if you reached a certain number like 100+ points you got to go on a field trip to medieval times or something like that.

I remember wanting to buy the cheat code book back in like 2009-2010 but my teacher was like "No, that's for adults.. you wouldn't be able to understand it" like what da hell

My favorite book series when I was a kid was Goosebumps by R.L. Stine. Growing up my parents encouraged my siblings and I to read as much as we can (within reason), though as a kid my reading skills weren't great, that's until my folks hired a Phonics tutor for me and soon after my reading skills improved so much that I became one of the best readers in my elementary class! Though my childhood was back in the 90's, I still enjoy reading every now and then. These day's I read Science Fiction, Mystery/Crime & Westerns. I'll admit I miss the Scholastic book fairs and The "Book It!" Program at Pizza Hut.

I remember I ordered a book from the catalog few years ago and then COVID struck and my teacher who had all the books just took them home and never gave them out, eventually she left the school, I’m still pretty mad cause that was just 12 dollars down the drain.
