"Start before you're ready" I love that. We're never truly ready

I actually cried a little. I've been working as a creative 8 years professionally. I just quit a very big senior position because the workplace was incredibly abusive and racist. I took a step back to get certified in UX. For the first time since highschool I have a non creative job and I was doubting myself and my skills. This just made me determined. My years of work aren't wasted, I'll become great at UI/UX. I just wanted to say thank you for the words.

My career evolution was varied too. Went through a lot of different paths to figure myself out. It turns out I circled back largely to things I loved when I was young. Apparently I was never truly lost...

"Nothing is a waste of time" is something I never thought I'd hear said. I always felt like if I failed at something, I'd have wasted so much time doing something for nothing. I feel a lot better now.

I have a pretty good support system, but the comfort I get from watching videos from The Futur is priceless. I guess hearing it from someone in the same field makes a huge difference. Thank you so much Matthew!

I watched Piximperfect, Satori Graphics, Dansky (to name the few) and learnt how to use Photoshop and Illustrator and now I am learning from this channel how to make a living and a career with the things I have learnt. It's been about 2 years in the field and without this channel, I don't know where I would be right now. Thank you all for all the contents you put on this platform for us to learn. 💗💗

Everything adds up. That’s very true. I used to think that some things I’ve been doing were a waste of time. But I did them because something moved me to do so then. Now I know that the only thing that can be called “wasting time’ is worrying, and the only thing that’s important I DOING. oh right, never stop believing in your future.

well, as an illustrator, having a style is extremely important. although it may evolve over time, there's always something that makes the style unique in its own way.

Sometimes.... chasing the things you love doesn't always put food on the table. Life of a but yes indeed all those experience make up for the build of a greater 'you.' Thanks for the insight Matthew!

I didn't have a plan, to be honest. I just enjoyed working on graphics and appreciating graphics and layouts from different artists and designers playing with every materials and other elements. Then, I started pitching for different streetwear brands after doing some fan artwork for them about 8 months ago.

And now, I am working for that brand on a per-project basis, plus another streetwear brands of 2 of my friends came to me for the branding identity design for his cafe and blog, another one for his merchandise.

What I learned from this design journey, be humble, be flexible, show your skills by doing fan-artworks for different brands you have a vision of for their merchandise with no payments involved, and last but not the least. Never forget to always have fun. Money would come second from passion. Keep it up guys. And thank you for Matthew, the guys behind The Futur, and Chris Do.

*Next journey of mine would be licensing. Have fun everyone!

This is extremely motivating. I am a law student and my hobbies are more creative based. I’m looking to start a creative media company. Thanks for this!

I'm glad that I was not alone in experiencing all these. I've always wondered if i'm doing something wrong and I keep on comparing myself to others who have been successful having started in just a short period of time. +1 for failure, it's the best mentor to slap you in face to get you running out of your comfort zone.

I graduated in 2018, I saw this in 2020, I guess it'll take me 10 more years but I'll be old then. It seems there's no age limit for being successful. Great Advice!! Anyone reading this, good luck for your future.
