Definitely prefer the lime wash to red brick, although I think what really makes the lime wash beautiful in other countries is when they paint the doors and window frames vibrant colors. It’s those pops of color that really make it look gorgeous and not just like every other suburban house that’s allergic to personality.

Red brick is very pretty to me. Its a traditional technique that you rarely have to do any maintenance on. Really you only need to power wash it if you like to see the white mortar. If you dont care about that then you dont need to worry hardly ever.
Limewash looks good only in certain climates imho.

The beauty of brick is that you never have to paint it. I think brick looks completely beautiful and appropriate in certain settings and landscapes. Limewash Is for cottages and mediterranean types of places. To me limewash is not stately and will look dingy over time and have to be maintained and painted again and again.

The red brick genuinely looked lovely. It just needed a power wash, new trim colour. The stone pillars of the entry is what throws the harmony off.

My neighbor painted his brick house white. After a few years it began to flake off. They did a cosmetic touch up, put it on the market, & sold it. New owners removed it all. Very labor intensive. Looks better now.🙏💓
