As somebody who’s a Chicago Bulls fan, Chris sounds like a spoiled Celtics fan lol I’ll take what happened to the Celtics.

As a broncos fan I will say this, we don’t just lose super bowls, we make a spectacle out of it. We lost Super Bowl 48 and it was awful. Just embarrassing and humiliating. Fast forward a year to the Malcom butler interception. I remember looking at my dad and thinking, “that sucks hard for them, but this will go down as one of the best games ever played.” I would much rather my team be a part of a game with greatness like that than be absolutely humiliated like my broncos were the year before.

Years removed from the Super Bowl as a Falcons fan I wouldn’t trade 28-3 for a blowout. It shapes you as a fan, and it just made that Braves world series that much sweeter

I keep rewatching this because seeing Boston sports feeling the pain they deserve post Patriots dynasty brings me pleasure.

I have a similar question for the TCU fans. Would you rather had lost in the semifinals to Michigan in a close and respectable game and which means you had never had to play Georgia or keep it the same as it is now and be forever known as the team that lost in the most embarrassing fashion anyone could have ever imagined to Georgia 65 -7?

You essentially lost twice emotionally being down 0-3 and then losing in game 7.

Being down 0-3 - “the season is over .. time to prepare for next year”

3-3 “we got this at home … we are making history”

Lose game 7 at home - “we blew it! Why did I even believe we would come back!! “

Chris brockman's POV is one of hindsight. It can only be held in hindsight.

It's not masochistic to want your team to go to game 7 and preferring to be swept is a quitters mentality, this is just pure salt coming from Brockman. I want my team to fight to the bitter end even if they lose.

We all know if the Cs had won the Boston guy would’ve been bragging his heart out this morning, but alas. 2004 is in the air.

Rich is kinda rephrasing his question when he says "you dont know" if i know im going to lose id rather lose quick then to have came back from 3-0 only to lose 4-3

I think the main contention is that game 7 was a blowout, so Boston ultimately couldn't be _too_ proud of the team's efforts to try and come back. Not trying to speak for Celtics fans, but I'm guessing if game 7 was way more competitive and not a dud, many of you would be feeling a bit different about this debate.

A sweep is just embarrassing. A game seven gives the team a chance.

The question is, if you know, then sure, getting swept is better than losing game 7, but YOU CAN'T KNOW. Hindsight is 20/ 20. Would you rather have your team have a chance to win in game 7 than get swept, but you don't KNOW the outcome? Of course. You cannot predict the future. Brock is just a bitter fan (and I'm a lakers fan, so right there with you, buddy).

4 long years ago, which seems like a lifetime ago at this point, the Tampa Bay Lightning tied a regular season record of 62 wins and set an NHL record with 128 points. They were the heavy favorites to win the Cup, and we all know what happened from there. As a fan of a team that WAS swept out of the playoffs, and ESPECIALLY as the heavy favorite, I can tell you unequivocably that it was the lowest point I had ever been at as a sports fan. Anyone who watched that series knows that, with the exception of the 1st period of Game 1, they weren’t even close to being competitive. Anyone who says that they would rather have that feeling over the feeling of a marvelous comeback only to fall short in the final game is a fool.

But, as fate would have it, it was that utter humiliation and dejection that made what happened the following 2 seasons - the greatest redemption story in the history of sports - all the more enjoyable and memorable. Hell, it was made even better with the fact that the Buccaneers won the Super Bowl with Brady, as well. Out of that humiliation and dejection came a feeling I will remember for the rest of my life, one that I hope every sports fan gets the opportunity to enjoy.

I actually agree I was pissed off watching the finals losses and definitely was pissed off Monday

2nd place can be just as devastating as last place if not worse. 2nd place can feel more like losing 1st place than winning 2nd place. The disappointment and pain can be just as bad as last place. Sometimes it hurts even more to come so close yet so far. its a personal experience and a matter of consequences.
