Oirantan by Kiryu with English subtitles! Thank you to nu-shockworks on Tumblr for the awesome translation!

Explanations:
This song tells the story of an 'Oiran', which is a type of prostitute, not geisha, that existed in ancient Japan. Emphasis on the not-a-geisha part. Anyway, back then, a lot of Oiran were sold to the red light district of the Ukiyo-e (The Floating World). It was impossible to get out unless someone bought you, and even then it certainly wasn't a fairy-tale, which is why a lot of hopelessness is expressed in the song.

A Courtesan parade (Oiran douchuu) is when a rich customer comes in and the girls are all lined up to dance around the room. Richie Rich then chooses the one he wants for the night.

On a side note, this song is written in archaic language (Which is why it's so...flowery) and uses really wonky pronunciation. Which I unfortunately noticed when trying to sync it with the romanji.

Weird Words:
Equinoctial-
1. Relating to or occurring at either or both equinoxes
2. (of a plant) Having flowers that open and close at specific regular times

Palpitations-
a noticeably rapid, strong, or irregular heartbeat due to agitation, exertion, or illness.

Licentious-
1. Lacking legal or moral restraints; especially : disregarding sexual restraints
2. Marked by disregard for strict rules of correctness

Coquetry-
Flirtatious behavior or a flirtatious manner

Trifling-
Unimportant or trivial

Interstices-
A space, especially a small or narrow one, between things or parts

Random stuff:
So the line 'Licentious coquetry for a trifling love' means ' Morally unrestrained flirting for an unimportant love.' That line really confused me.

This is kind of dumb, but the line 'Swaying, the swaying from a flicker' would be 'Yurari yurarira yuramekinsu' in Japanese. There are a few more lines kind of like that too, but that's the most fun

Oiran means prostitute and the -tan is a baby-talk way to say -chan. So it's kind of like saying 'wittle pwostitute'

Thanks for reading this! Check out nu-shockworks on Tumblr too. Their explanation is better than mine.

Thank you so much, jemmi - this was a totally surprisingly well orchestrated combination of powerful sounds & subtle detailed harmonics. Nice voice & lyrics that are the stuff of haunted forests & moonlit dreams of memories !!!
