Hang on! Now they want to RAISE the retirement age | Morris Invest

-----------------
There’s nothing that can stop the national debt in the United States at this point. With figures in the trillions, it’s clear this is a huge systemic issue. But some members of Congress believe that the best way to cut national spending is to cut back on entitlement programs, like Social Security.
The GOP Study Committee’s plan to save Social Security promotes two main ideas: to raise the retirement age for younger Americans and to phase out benefits for high income retirees. These policy changes, again, aimed at reducing national spending and national debt, would reduce spending on Social Security by a total of $1.5 trillion.
The Biden administration maintains that cutting back on Social Security benefits will not happen, but anything is a possibility.
There’s not one solution to the retirement crisis, but one thing is glaringly obvious: it’s time for Americans to stop playing by these stupid rules.
If the government decides to raise the retirement age, are you going to let that impact the life you want to live? That’s ridiculous. This is exactly why you’ve got to start building the life you want now.

Social security is not an entitlement....it's our money

SSI isn't an entitlement program. It's our own money put away for retirement. They need to lower the age, not raise it. My partner is going to be 60 this year and was forced to find new employment but due to the new algorithm in the job finding sites, its impossible to find new work. Plus those that do interview him don't hire him because he's a risk of leaving as early as 2 year plus a health risk because of age.

They raised the retirement age to 67 when I was between 15 and 17 years of age. Nowadays, people are still working well above the age of 70, because they cannot afford to retire. Disgusting shame.

If we the People didn't pay our bills we would be charged late fees and have the service turned off..Possibly go to jail.
How come the government doesn't have to pay their bills? How does she get away with it?

Or they do not have the money to pay out retirees

Many states have already raised the retirement age to 67 and it has been several years since this happened. Old news...same old news...no new news as the poor are destined to become poorer!

Full retirement has been raising for a while now. Full social security doesn’t start until after 67. Depends on your birth year. Medicare starts at 65, but that is the only benefit that starts at that age

Face reality!
They will increase retirement and the state pension will be means tested.
i.e. if you have other income, that will be taken into consideration in the amount the state will pay you the state pension.

I think it's Jimmy dore that found out that peoples all over the world even in China and Iran have about over a decade of retirement more than the americans based on the retirement age and the lifespan that is better anywhere except in a few places.

Why not just raise the max amount, that can be taxed for SS?? That would solve a lot of the problem.

I wish people would stop using that Main Stream Media gaslighting term, Entitlement, when referring to Social Security. Social Security is not an Entitlement. I would have thought Morris Invest would know that. Maybe he's not as smart as he thinks.

Solution maybe is the foreign 700-800 usa bases and weapons complex and so many politicians working for their pockets…….after you will see the retirement will go at 60 😊😊😊

Its a huge joke to try to raise that! Americans arent even living as long as they used to thanks to poor health policies in the US. This is terrible.
