Narnia's Aslan was the only reason I anticipated The Lion King remake. They kept bragging over and over again about how far technology has come and how much better and more realistic the remake will be.
I assumed 2005 was just the beginning of technology, yet it appears we're moving backward.

Aww, that Aslan was actually kinda cute, plus, you could tell he was smiling. Why couldn't they have just done that? Instead you got a wildlife documentary with worse renditions of original songs and worse voice acting.

Aslan is a Lion and he can express emotions. So why can't Simba do the same? The same goes for all the characters in the Lion King remake.

Make another Narnia movie, they're better than anything Disney has done live action recently

The late Shamus Culhane once said:
"Imitation of real life is not art and art is what we are involved with."

Or as John Kricfalusi put it:
"The closer animation gets to superficial realism, the faker it looks. This has been demonstrated over and over again in our history - going back to Snow White. Everybody loved the cartoony Dwarfs and noted the complete incongruity and stiffness of Snow White and the Prince. Well animated cartoon characters are far more "believable" than "realistic" mannequins."

From a purely technical standpoint, does The Lion King look better than Narnia? Sure does. But does it feel better to look at? Now that's the real question.

Lion king live action will haunt my dreams and make my nightmares worse.

I remember Rags being really surprised at how expensive Prince Caspian was to make, but if you actually think about the sheer amount of CG creatures in the Narnia movies - fully-animated animals like Aslan, anthropomorphic ones like the mouse knight whose name I forget, and the myriad of mythical creatures like minotaurs, centaurs, phoenixes, satyrs, and more - it's not surprising at all. Especially those trees in Prince Caspian.

Both were made by Disney. So no excuses.

I just watched Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron for the first time yesterday and screw trying to make animals look realistic. That film tells most of it's story through the expressions of the animal characters. There are some talking Humans, but the animals don't talk, not even to each other when it's just them in the scene

The existence of guardians of the galaxy vol 3 effectively kills all arguments that CGI animals cant have expressions
