Confirmed. Earliest-born person to ever filmed. On 26 February 1896, Leo XIII was the first Pope to be filmed, filmed by Vittorio Calcina from Turin who is the first Italian filmmaker in history. He used the Cinématographe Lumière. The shooting took place in the Vatican gardens in Rome. Calcina was also the representative of the Lumière brothers for Italy from 1896

When I watch this, I feel that time moves too swiftly. All these people were here, all important, but are all gone, and we too will soon be just like a footprint in the sand.

This man knew people older than the United States of America.

This man was born:
1 year after the 5th coalition against Napoleon ended.
The same year the Mexican independence war started.
1 year before Jane Austin published Sense and Sensibility.
2 years before Napoleon started the invasion of Russia, and the 6th coalition started.

A man who knew people from the 18th century, was born and lived in the 19th century, died in the 20th century and now we are watching his video in the 21st century. Let that sink in…

This is the oldest person recorded on video, but the oldest person photographed was born in 1746, she certainly knew some people born in the 17th century.

My great grandfather was born in 1896 and died in 1995. It’s amazing to think of the people he and others talked to back then and the knowledge they shared. Thanks for the video
