I loved seeing all the politics this episode. It's like seasons 2 & 3 of GOT. And Baela's talks with Jace and Rhaenyra and Corlys were so interesting, I loved seeing those personal connections

Even if on the slower side i found E5 to be a solid episode. I enjoyed the focus on the political intrigue and machinations ; something we very much associate with GRRM in the text being quite prevalent and well-executed. The familiar locations from ASoIaF / GoT were nice to see again as well and were seemingly mostly compliant with the source material (with the usual HotD tweaks) rather than used simply for familiarity's sake. Have to watch the episode again but seemed some of those locations got a bit of a design upgrade from GoT.

Even if probably time to move on / evolve, Daemon's Hh scenes are quite interesting, especially at times its not so simple distinguishing his dreams from his reality. Also his visions at least to me highlights the inner guilt and regret Daemon is wrestling with. Unlike Aemond proving more the ruthless unrepentant type who will stop at nothing in pursuit of his own aims. The show has more clearly defined & raised Daemon's ambitions and some aspects deem him less sympathetic than the text but HotD also highlighting some guilt and restraint as well. Alys another intriguing character, HotD leaning in with her Weirwood / old gods' magic association(s). To me it seems Daemon is mostly being targeted by Alys / Alys' magic on HotD as we really have not heard of anyone (in the text or otherwise) having quite as surreal an experience that Daemon has had at Hh thus far. Strange and eerie place for sure but nothing near DT's HotD Harrenhal experience.

Also, looking forward to the seemingly imminent dragonseeds' arc developing. The KL political elements also quite intriguing, with now a very injured broken king and just when Alicent thought she finally had some influence seems to have been marginalized yet again. And now we will see the very ruthless bloodthirsty Aemond essentially at the helm of Team Green.

No one is talking about the fact that Alyss Rivers hasnt interacted with anyone other than Daemon, has she? It's like they're trying to suggest she's not real, but that doesn't make sense for the book's plot, unless they change her story completely. I think the most interaction we've had is when Strong looks "at her" as she walks past him, but there is a breeze and Daemon is watching her leave...

I'm not entirely sure why they're bulking the Daemon/Harranhaal storyline out so much 🤷🏻‍♀️ we get it - the castle is creepy, there's old magic, Alyss is weird. Got it, move on... It's adding nothing to the story now really, nor is it developing Daemon's character arc.
