Silicone emergency repair tape, does it work?

Yes, this is not a proper fix, but I really don't feel like dealing with this in the middle of winter.
If something goes wrong, this is our heat, and hot water.
So, does it work? Well, that depends a lot on your definition of "working".
I had expected one 15" length of it to do the trick, and it clearly did not. Maybe it would have, once the material started to shrink up on itself, so its possible that I did not give it enough time to do its thing.

That will be a miracle if that holds. Does hot water come directly from that boiler or is there a heat exchanger and a storage tank for your domestic hot water. I could have had the option for using my wood fired boiler for hot water heat but there was a 4 foot water to water heat exchanger that gets plumbed in from the water heater drain to a mixer at the top of the outlet of the water heater. It was about a $200 option at the time. I guess I could have had it paid for by now in LPG savings. It looked like a lot of future plumbing leaks so I opted out.

Probably a good idea to put a bucket on burner just in case.
