Nigel Farage has been criticised by politicians across the political spectrum for saying the West "provoked" Russia into invading Ukraine.

Ali Miraj makes it clear he is not a Putin apologist and wonder whether Nigel Farage’s view has any truth to it.

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer told LBC: "I would say the comments from Farage are disgraceful and I think everybody who stands for office in our parliament ought to be clear that we stand with Ukraine, that Russia is the aggressor and Putin bears the responsibility for Russian aggression and will be held to account for it. Rishi Sunak said this morning that the comments were "completely wrong" and "play into Putin's hands".

For NATO read US and for US read Neocon Militarists. Putin did not want this. Farage is right.

NATO defensive? Don't make me laugh. Ukraine could have been very happy remaining neutral, but NATO moved in and insisted otherwise. Boris Johnson stopped the agreement that was being made several months into the war, and ordered Zelenski to continue fighting.

The problem is that people with the brains to see both sides are called Purin lovers, prominent stream media brainwaves people like the last caller to see just one side.

And what fails to be mentioned in any of these conversations is that right now America is occupying Syrian territory, coincidently the oil fields and the highly productive food producing areas of Syria. So it's bad when Putin occupies land that's not his, yet it's fine when the Americans do.

We have to be careful. We might end up talking ourselves out of a war.

13:12 In fact at the Soviet referendum of 17 March 1991 majority of Soviet citizens voted to keep the ussr and to stay within the ussr. 75 % of the Ukrainians voted to stay within the ussr and more than 80 % in Belarus and Kazakhstan voted to stay within the ussr.

Kazakhstan was the last republic which stayed within the ussr even after Russia left.

With all due respect Nigenl says "NATO has a volunteer membership policy" - if that's true why Russia was denied when they asked to join the alliance? The answer is obvious to me..

What nigel said was a very uncomfortable truth and nothing more. We don't always like it, but we must face the truth. It's the only way we can repair our mistakes worldwide. Vote Reform

Jens Stolenberg Secretary General of NATO stated in an address to the EU in Sept 2023 that a key point in the Russian invasion of Ukraine was the expansion of NATO. Its a shame people are not mature enough to listen to what someone has to say like Mr Farage and think about it as opposed to instantly dismissing what they say just because they dislike them....

The eu and nato know exactly what they are doing. They agreed in the Budapest memorandum, that after the reunification of Germany they wouldn't go an 'inch further east' and did multiple times, they also said they wouldn't use economic influence on the soverign state of Ukraine, well if saying if they join the eu and getting loads of money isnt, i dont know what is!. They then offered Ukraine to join Nato if certain conditions were met. Putin has repeatedly cited anger at the betrayal of the West regarding this, so it isn't surprising that Putin could use this as an excuse to invade Ukraine. This was what Farage was highlighting and this is what he warned against those many years ago.

Sounds like an argument based in abuse, they attacked and the best argument in defence is, "look what you made me do"
