Many people have a love hate relationship with Cox Internet. In this Cox Internet review we discuss our experience with the service.

We’ve used the cable internet service for many years. Overall, Cox offers quality speeds in Omaha and we’ve never hit our data cap.

However, like other internet providers, actual speeds don’t meet what’s advertised. And, they love the bundle.

If Cox is in your area, watch our Cox Internet review to see if they’re worth it and what you should look for in a provider.

Who do you use for an internet provider and what is one thing you would change about them?

Cox literally quadrupled my price like what and I’ve been a customer for 7 years

Hey, thanks for making this review! I live in vegas where cox has a 75% ish grasp of the market. Over the past 2 years, I have done door sales for the fiber the few available fiber options. A big thing I have noticed is the constant rate hikes with the lack of service improvements or customer service. talking about fiber with 700 + upload/download. surprised not too many companies are expanding with fiber. I want to talk with some higher ups and get an office / operation out into you area !

Totally agree with your analysis of COX. I pay $90 a month for around an average bit rate of 130 Mbs download speed! I too live in a somewhat rural area of AZ an COX is the only option 😞

Depends on where you live, I guess.

Around where I live, CenturyLink and Cox are the two largest providers. Cox is the same price as CenturyLink with speeds that are over 20x faster (7 Mbps vs 150 Mbps, both at $49.99/month)

Cox is the worst, the customer services is a complete deaster, and they will try to sell you more service instead of help you. Just so you are aware.

I also have cox and have been preparing to cut the cord. Even with a bundle my internet is $100. There are no other isp choices here either. Got new firestick 4kmax and recast today on sale and already have antenna. Unfortunately I also rent my modem from them and want to eliminate that fee too which is my last step but to me the hardest 😩

Cox was charging me monthly for a rental modem that wasn’t working. It would take 20 minutes to connect to the internet. And they installed the mocha filter upside down which caused my WiFi to continuously get disconnected. I called and they transferred me to the wrong department. I called back a second time and when they put me on hold they hung up. I called back a third time and was then transferred again. I finally talked to a supervisor and gave him detailed information as to the problems I was having and he submitted a form that just said I had Internet issues. I spent two hours on the phone with them (One hour being on hold, transferred and hung up on and the second hour explaining my Internet problems) and the issue is not resolved. They said to call back in two days. I called them last month about this same problem demanding credit. They said they would call me back within a week and they didn’t. I called them a month later explained everything again and this is where I’m at. This company is a joke and a rip off.

IMO, the ONLY way prices are going to get more competitive is if these internet providers are basically listed as public utilities, like the phone companies, and stiff penalties are implemented for price fixing.
If you think about it, the internet is becoming more and more necessary for our daily needs, like the phone became when Bell Telephone was broken up.
As much as I hate the government getting involved, it's probably the only way to get TRUE price competition for internet service.
I really don't think that will happen though, because politicians are making too much money for keeping the status quo in place.
As long as they can establish monopolies, nothing will change.

Greetings. I live in Omaha, NE in a new development going out towards Union, NE. We get fast service however the service is often interrupted probably because of the new homes being built not to far away. One thing I'm finding which is what brought me here was that my phones and tablets get Throttled and I have to reset my Cable Modem and Orbi Routers to regain the speeds. The Desktop computers are left alone. Cox Communications. We need competition out here badly.

I feel pretty fortunate to have Verizon Fios. Wish you did too. I'm currently on their notable $40-plan, which brings me perfectly fine streaming on at least three screens simultaneously (I only need one, but I tested).

Cox is so bad the data cap thing is the dumbest thing considering in these days you’ll use so much more. They’re service is also very inconsistent and went out a lot. I switched to ATT fiber once it was in my area and I haven’t had any problems since I got it. Anyone on cox, I pray for you

I just wanted cox basic lowest internet service for like 30 or 40 a month.. Got one for around 50 a month. They keep missing with the price plans i signed up for, jacking it up to 60 and over😠. They won't stop.

I'm in tulsa Oklahoma btw. In the past I've had AT&T as well. And they suck just as worse as cox.

GOD! All i want is basic reasonable internet service with a reasonable price that doesn't change.

Just about all these services providers are garbage😣😓

My only option now is dish network. Never had it, But i fear they may just end up being the same as those two

My Cox has to compete with FIOS. We get totally better service, speeds, and reliability. And price DROPS !
Fredericksburg, VA. We had a bad patch while they were upgrading the local field equipment last year, but now we pay for 250mpbs, and always get that, or as much as 440, usually 377, and 55 upload.
It was hell for several months last year. I guess their equipment really needed maintenance.

Spectrum and Xfinity do not overlap with Cox.
