Mass Effect Andromeda Review: A Great Space Opera But Nowhere Close To The Original Trilogy

Despite its vague links to the trilogy, Mass Effect: Andromeda can largely be described as a soft reboot for the series. For the most part, this has worked out really well for Bioware, giving them a launching pad to take the story ahead in future installments. The game is not without its problems, but the wealth of content on offer here will suck you right into the experience.

A lot of people complaining this is a spoiler filled review- its not. The reviewer explains the first 5ish hours of the game with little story spoiling- it takes upto 30-40hrs to complete the main campaign depending on doing side missions and exploration.

With that being said, its one of the more fairer reviews in terms of how it does against the previous games in terms playing as a brand new set of characters who arent seasoned veterans (Characters who arent high in politics or are known war survivors) like shephard and his crew and the such. Which of course isnt going to please everyone who are so used to that, and gives the series the opportunity to start fresh and not everyone like change.

Exactly my thought. Good game but damn, M.E. 2 is still the best for me. New is good but old is different.

some people are so damn dumb I tell you they get upset complain and whine because the story is not as good as the original Mass Effect, well what do you think this game is about explorers find a new home Worlds while the original was about a badass Soldier saving the Galaxy. I see what people are saying about the animations the humans do look a little cartoony in my opinion but that seems to be a really small complaint and it doesn't ruin the game in anyway. (at least in my opinion)

I'm a lil leery compared to the aftertaste I got from ME trilogy. While the game was amazing from 1 and 2, 3 deviated so much that I had to think of it as a straight FPS like CoD since it was really made much like it. The fact that the choices I invested so much into the time for full completion multiple times until number 3, the last 10 min of the game (Mass Effect 3) really had me go, "WTF!!!!?!?!?!". Soooo, knowing this I'm not too surprised that Andromeda just took small bits and pieces from the games and tried to go off somewhere else. They should had taken the bread and butter of the series and really TAKE THE TIME to make it right. Its like the difference of what people got from Dragon Age Origins (which was amazing) into Dragon Age 2 (the stepchild everyone wanted to forget about). Sorry guys, but that's my two bits on it....

To everyone who said he spoiled the game, he literally only spoiled the 1st 3 hours of the the fuck out. Also thanks for doing a unbiased review of Andromeda. Most just look at the animations and say "lol worst game of all time, 1/10 ign".

This game is ok. The problem is that the OT is amazing. And with the remaster from the Legendary Edition, the OT makes Andromeda look bad by comparison.

Did you really just say that the world have their own unique alien lifeforms on them? There are 7 living whole creatures found across the galaxy, including Kett and Angara.

it's not that facial animations on non humans are better. We are human so we have an expectation for facial expressions based on the tone of any given situation in game. We do not have the same expectations for the non human characters which is why it seems like the facial animations are better when in reality less work probably went into the facial animations for the non humans.
