Michigan school shooter Ethan Crumbley stood up and spoke in court ahead of his sentencing.

"I am a really bad person. I have done some terrible things. I have lied and I’m not trustworthy. I hurt many people," Crumbley said Friday when given the opportunity to speak before the court after hearing from witnesses and victims.

Crumbley fatally shot four students and injured seven others at Oxford High School in November 2021.

He's has probably been given more attention in jail, than he had in his whole life previously.

Sometimes I wonder whether these kids heard they were “bad” as a child and internalized it as part of their personal…always feeling marginalized and different. Love children, tell them they are blessings and maybe they will grow up to act that way

His parents bought him a weapon after being told & shown all the things he was doing. They are 100% responsible.

Seemed, sounded sincere. Hope he lives a penitent life pursuing redemption for the evil he committed and the pain he inflicted.

This kid is a monster but he was terribly failed by his parents. My condolences to all the loved ones of those that were killed. I cant imagine the pain and anger. Its a parents worst nightmare.

This is just sad all the way around. His parents failed him. Kids need love and empathy so they can show it to the rest of the world. This boy was screaming for help and his parents didn't hear it. God bless him and all those lost sweet souls that had to pay for his parents neglect.

Sometimes I do feel bad for lonely kids like this. Because your quiet and sometimes awkward which leads to people thinking your weird or different….few years later your shooting up a school. Parents, shower these kids with love and attention before it’s too late.

I’m shocked because a lot of the teenagers who have been charged with murder in the past usually cry and beg but he took responsibility for his actions. His parents are in jail and they deserve it. When you see the first warning sign you know something is not right. My heart goes to the ones who lost their child. Is heartbreaking 😢

I'm 49 years old, was bullied all throughout my school years. I'm still bullied at my job at my age. It stays with you. You always feel awkward. You always wish someone really knew you then they wouldn't bully you. I never think I'm different than anyone else, but apparently people think I am. It makes me question myself all the time. No matter how nice and polite and helpful I am and try to be, I'm still picked on, singled out, and bullied. I'd never kill anyone over it, but I know the pain behind it.

I pray that common sense will lead to proper Mental Health care in our country.
64 million dollars in federal funding only offers 72 hour holds, rehabs that are more prison than care facilities, and a lifetime addiction to drugs.
Families bankrupt themselves living in fear and hopelessness for their suffering children.

Bad parenting, bad system, america is falling apart. What do you expect kids to do when they turn on the tv and adults in politics act violents towards each other all day and night.. this is americas fault and his parents for sure.

Wow that was a very great apology honestly and I’m not even being sarcastic

His parents didn’t help the situation. So young and filled with such animosity. Sad all the way around.

He had psychopathic behavior. His dog died and his best (maybe only) friend moved out of state. So, what does his father do? He bought him a gun. I hope that his parents get an equally long sentence.

This is now a kid who is obviously being TREATED for his depression and psychosis. I wish the parents had stepped up much earlier.

I get the sad sense that, while what he did was horrible, lots of people, including “the system” failed this young man. Of course, you can’t send collective society to prison for the ones he harmed and killed that day at the school. I do pray that this young man finds the Lord in prison and does his best to life responsibly for the rest of his life here on earth. I do pray God protects him.

Dear Parents, do not purchase your child a gun. Thank you in advance.

This kid has shown much more maturity than his parents, from the moment he committed the shooting than his parents, they failed him and for their negligent 4 families had been destroyed.

This case saddens my heart deeply. I have a brother who is on the spectrum, but very capable of blending in and not seeming so. However, him and I were extremely neglected as children and it caused him to have unpredictable anger and he didn’t listen to authority figures, but no one knows all the times I heard him cry….beg for love and attention. Had my parents not stopped using drugs when I was 14 and he was 11, then I don’t know what the future would have had in store for him. He had to go through SO much healing.

It just makes me realize holding parents responsible for extreme neglect like this is the RIGHT way. I wish my mom had some sort of consequence, beyond us being estranged at times. Nothing about it is ok. This now ‘school shooter’ could have turned out be a very loving human being, like my brother now is. I can’t even say I hate him. His brain was processing NEGLECT in his formative years and it’s scientifically proven that it damages the brain significantly.

Prayers to him and his recovery/ redemption.
