3400g vs 4700g using the APU of each one

im waiting for a price drop for 3700x ... gonna love that juicy 100+fps gaming :P

I wish you had matched the clock speeds. That's what I've been looking for.

I figured Anandtech would do a deep dive, monolithic vs chiplet, this is the perfect pair to measure.

Am i the only one who thinks most of the commentar section whining about the 4k G Series didn't understand the purpose of the Video northe aimed targeting Group of the CPU
Its for OEMs, mostly build in Mini PCs or Capaple Office PCs for consoderably heavy CPU tasks. Not for pairing IT with a 2080, to build a gaming system and even of you did so IT kinda still works out okay i would say
I think the L3 Cache needs a lot space on the die and eats up a lot of energy, which for OEMs and Business is a Hufe point

i think the video core should be the same in 4600 and 4700, because in fact its hight end processors in a mini itx pc

How much of this comes down to the 4700g being only 8x PCIe 3.0, with it possibly being split evenly between the GPU, and the 4x PCIe NVME drive where as the 3700x is at least 16x PCIe 4.0, so, quite literally 4x faster PCIe bandwidth even if this test machine wasnt using an NVMe SSD

so its APU VS CPU !!
i can't wait for AMD Ryzen 7 4700X

Not only that (L3 cache size) matters but also that PCI-E lanes. The 4700G has only 8x 3.0, meanwhile the 3700X has 16x 4.0 to the GPU. ;)

I just got my 3700x for around $280 last week on a sale, and free assassin creed valhalla standard ver as a bonus gift, what's a steal!

There is not only a difference in the cache - one CPU is an APU that came to the desktop market from the mobile segment (4700g is an analogue of the mobile 4800h, but with increased power limits), the other has a chiplet design of components. Completely different processors, although one zen2 architecture is declared. Accordingly, the difference in fps is not due to such a difference in cache volume.

Take note the APUs always use the past architecture of the standard cpu this means that Ryzen 4700G(is actually a 3rd gen cpu with an integrated gpu)

Somehow the dedicated GPU is used significantly less with the 4700G - no matter how much (or less) the CPU is used [CPU usage from 30 - 80 %, GPU usage always 10 % lower with the 4700G].
I am not that certain, that this is a problem of cache. As it just makes no difference how hard the CPU is actually hit.

I think 4700g need fast memory, like 4200mhz

I sure hope consumer grade cpu's won't have this problem, otherwise i'm going for r5 3600 or r7 3700x

So, for all the people that said we cant have AMD laptops with 2080 GPUs because of the lack of PCIe lanes, well, look how well the desktop version of this runs, the performance gap between the 2080TI and the 2080MaxP is much larger than the performance gap betwen the 2080IT when using a 3700x vs 4700g

8:01 2:09 cpu usage is extremly high.
Are these cpus really 8 cores?

Where did you get the 4700g? Or is it actually a 4750g pro? If its a 4750g, you were actually able to OC past 4.45ghz? The AMD pages says "unlocked: no" for the 4750g and its extremely hard to find a confirmation that you can or cant overclock the 4750g

I am going to Ryzen 5 3600 with rtx 2060

I have i5 4200u with Intel HD 4400;(

Good evolution.

The new 4700X with Zen 3 cores, large cache, IPC increase, frequency incrase and 8 cores per CCX will be a gaming beast.

I guess you have to compare G version with none X version to get more real results?
Wonders what is the difference in power consumption of both?

thanks for comparison anyway ;-)
