Great video; love it. The only thing I would say when using a fabric with a printed design (repeat pattern) make sure to mach the design when joining/gluing the two together on the frame. Thanks for sharing.

Just about anything ratty on the side of the street pulls at my heart strings....love your lampshade, Mark!  I never thought about stripping it first, all my attempts have been to go over the existing fabric and Ive never had one turn out quite how I had hoped, tfs!

i've had your Big Ass book for years and I LOVE IT. It's the best craft book I've ever seen!! Found your channel entirely by accident when looking for lampshade ideas. I was watching you with the sound off and I recognized the Big Ass book behind you in the shot. then I looked at the name of the channel and realized YOU are Mark Montano!!! I'm so glad I found your channel!

YES!!! Thank you Mark. I finally find a tutorial for this particular type of lamp shade and it's perfect for the print on the fabric I want to use. All the other how-to's I looked at are the typical trace the shade on paper then on the fabric and just would not have worked, so thank you. Lol I felt like a dummy when I saw your video and thought "DUH" so simple. You're awsome

I did a lampshade project very much like this almost 30 years ago. If hot glue existed, I did not know of it. Instead, I found Tacky Glue. I bought plain colored bias tape and used the Tacky Glue to wrap each and every rib on my lamp shade frame tightly. In doing this, I gave myself a surface to glue my panels to. I then waited at least a day for the ribs to dry.

The next step was to glue on the top and right side of every panel to the cloth on the ribs. I then let those dry overnight. The next day, I could glue the bottoms and left sides. The left sides were glued to the right side of the panel next to them. Once the panels were all dry, I trimmed up close to the glue and then covered every seam with fancy rick-rack. I used bridal fabric because mine was a formal lampshade, and on the bottom edge, I glued a 4" fringe. It has held up all these years, and no one could ever tell that it was made this way.

My goodness. Wish I had found you last year. I sewed mine and it didn't work so well. I will now have another go with the matching frame that I so nearly threw out!

Mark, fabulous job on the lamp!  The fabric is gorgeous and looks so expensive!  I was wondering about your glue gun as well, What brand is it?
