Stoner!!!! Yes, yes and yes! McCarthy is also just incredible! I often say that as hard and miserable as life can be-- when I read amazing literature, I often say a prayer of thanks. I'm grateful to be alive to read such great books.

You should read "This is how you lose the time war". I can only describe it as science fiction poetry. This novella is beautifully written and the prose will stick with you. My new favorite book of the year so far, and I've read two King books.

i love how the auto generated chapter title is “Just It I, ” as if when he said “This book is just- it- I” that was the book name

I remember reading stoner several years ago and thinking this novel is something different—it's telling me the ordinary life of an extra-ordinary man. His stoicism is what I admired and pitied most. John Williams is a literary genius in my eyes. I wish he had written more novels. I personally love Nothing but the Night by him which reminds me very much of Ernesto Sabato's classic novel "The Tunnel" published in the same year.

Ive seen you mention that he goes to Columbia University in Stoner. He actually is attending University of Missouri.. which is in Colombia, Missouri.

Not only was the Rape of Nanking a devastating story, it also took a devastating toll on the author, Iris Chang, who committed suicide soon after completing it.

Love that movie. The build in tension is quintessentially Hitchcock.

No need to explain "Stoner" as I can't explain why it is one of my favorite books of all time. That book just hit me...just a great book.

Great listening to you. I finished 11/22/63 and it didn't take very long despite it being such a thick book. Stoner will be coming up soon.
