I was a bit nervous to do this. I have a'73 standard, and decided to take the plunge. My only advice is to remove the glass before drilling. I did a little scratch on the glass. Not as good as you and your dad Chris. LOL Your video was really easy to follow. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and wisdom restoring VWs. Ciao

I am digging the music! Weird? NO, it's awesome surf! I originally came here looking for a "how to replace the handle on my '63 vent window", but got side tracked. Glad I did, I learned some new stuff.

Just what I was looking for. Need to replace my rubber and a lot of the rivets have broken already. Looks like I'll need one of those press tools to get them flush.

Chris, another great video! What do you charge for labor to do a pair of vent windows like that? Thanks!

excellent video on the windows, a question what substance do you apply with a small brush to the tube that protrudes from the bottom base of the window ???? Cheers

This video helped me a lot. I started taken the door apart already and figured I would tackle the Vent Windows. Quick question Chris, What size rivet did you use for the pivot? Or do you use something else now on the later vent window pivots?

Very nice video. I'm working on replacing all the seals on my bay window vent window and I'm trying to find out what is the actual name and where I can locate the proper flaring rivet tool like the one you utilized. Thanks for your time and help.

What is used to secure the wing bracket to the top of the door inside the window track?

Did you use a generic "pop-rivet" for the vent swivel?? I'm doing the same to my '71 Bay window vent and it came with a specific rivet and washer but I don't have the correct tool to install it! Any "insider" info you'd care to impart?? Great music in your video BTW!

Hey Chris. Great videos! Just getting back into air cooled after a long hiatus. Picked up a 55 beetle. Someone ruined those beautiful ribbed doors with one piece windows. Have you ever successfully put the wing windows back into a cut door? I’m handy with a welder and enjoy fabrication. Thx. Keep the awesome videos coming!

What do you do if you don’t have the plastic slider piece in at 4:01 of the video? Mine were brittle and broken

Chris: What is the spec on the rivet? Aluminum dome head, 1/8" x 1/4"? Aluminum Mandrel (nail?)
