I love the younger crowd coming up but I am Lynette/Mario's age. I love hearing their stories of witnessing major financial events. I learn so much from both!
If you are USSA, the gold eagles are the best to have. When you travel, you have to declare over $10K. When you have gold eagles, they are face value. So you could carry 199 gold eagles and not declare them since they are $50 face value. I think it was Andy Shectman who told the story of a dealer transporting monster boxes into Canada for a client. He was stopped at the border because he didn't declare the monster boxes well over $10K in fiat currency. But after they investigated they let him go and said he did nothing wrong because it is face value for eagles. It is also face value for Maple Leafs. Many stackers say, if you have to run, you grab the gold because you can't run with silver!
