Kieran Trippier... what's going on?! Here's what NUFC MUST do!

Storm Lilian has forced me indoors, but is a storm brewing at Newcastle United? I've been speaking to Eddie Howe today and in this video I'll tell you what he said about Kieran Trippier's future at NUFC, and give my own take on what the club need to do. I'll also address the issue of Bruno Guimaraes and the team captaincy. And does Trippier really fancy Everton?

Totally agree with you Craig, Kieran is undoubtably needed at Newcastle and has lots more to give, it will be a gloomy day if he leaves.

Howe made the right choice with Bruno. He trusts him implicitly, especially after last season when the player avoided getting a booking for 10 straight games. I think that level of discipline to help our threadbare squad really impressed Eddie, nevermind what Bruno can do when we really need him.
I remember back in the day, Don Revie doing the same with Billy Bremner and it was the making of him.
I must also say I'm very worried about the transfer situation. I just wonder what we would be doing now if we'd signed Toisin from Fulham on a free. Would we have got a keeper and a winger?

Couldn't agree more, Liveramento is not finished article .Trippier is still best fullback back we have .
If we had brought a couple of top drawer players in maybe, but we haven't!
Selling Trip weakens us simple as that .

Why do journalists ask Eddie the same question that 6 other journalists have already asked? Eddie was as annoyed as I was. It's such a waste of an opportunity gain some insight.

We should have walked away from the Guehi deal a couple of weeks ago and bought an alternative around the 40m mark. Palace don't need to sell so are in a strong negotiating position. They are not being 'difficult', as is suggested elsewhere, they are doing a great job in their negotiations, from a Palace perspective. Even if we get him now it's a failure as it's taken all of the available money, apparently, and all of the focus of the negotiating team. You need to know when to walk away (and yes I was responsible for negotiations in a Sales job) and we should have done that a couple of weeks ago.

we need to start winning on quality not winning by a great defence performance, it was a hard watch against southampton

The voice of common sense returns.
This transfer win, thus far, has been a disaster. Would mark Guei & a new winger coming in re-ingnite the fan base. Only time will tell....
Thanks, Graig..
Always appreciate your no-nonsense, straight talking vids....

No doubt Tripps personal life affected his game and there is no guarantee that those problems will not raise their ugly head again. Those problems are personal but when it can affect his game then it becomes public. Next, Tripps was very vocal with his thoughts over the Japan trip. I think that his experience should have seen him voice his concerns behind closed doors . Is Tripps guaranteed first choice on team selection ?. No, so your on field captain has to be someone who is expected to be first choice week in week out not including short injuries and or rest. What ever happens I wish Tripps the best for his professional future.

I thought we were told we were going to have a transformative window by Eales. It has been the exact opposite…

NUFC need to be very careful imo, it really seems as though we’re at a crossroads with all the new “management” don’t want to see that good feeling disappear.

We are in a transitional period again Craig, new hierarchy so lots of jockeying for position behind the scenes, the PSR issues at the end of June and the flying around trying to do deals has brought us down to earth a little. Whatever happens the club is in a great place, has some great players and I believe we’ll be fine. Thanks for your videos 👍

13:01 completely agree with this. The club has also stated this was their strategy, that they have to buy potential and develop it. Guéhi to my mind has already been developed by Palace and I do feel failing to invest in a decent RW will cost the clubs unless of course Madueke or similar are available on loan.

Interesting Craig again I agree with you things do feel a little flat and Sunday will be a very difficult game which in my opinion will show us where we are. I also don't think we will bring in a right winger if we sign Guiye I would play Barnes left and Gordon right

I agree about the Chelsea Man C, match boring is right but as most teams all want to pass the ball back and forward even in situations where a cross can be put in.

A good update as ever Craig. However, why the strange pronunciation of Guehi? 'Guy-ee'?

Can you do an honest assessment of Paul Mitchell's work since joining the club? I think he has been absolutely turgid.

Great video Craig I agree we should keep Tripps if we can

What's with this way too expensive Gehi buy? The Brentford strikers ran him ragged. He doesn't impress me at all.

We saw that Tripps name had gone from his Box at St James’s last weekend, his domestic issues are clearly a factor, so if he leaves he goes with the goodwill and gratitude of all true Toon fans. If he stays fine. The fact that Eddies not getting regular updates means nothing IMO. He made it clear that he provides the list of target players he wants/needs and then it’s up to Paul Mitchell and the recruitment team to get the deals done. Eddie knows they are still trying to get what he wants and he’ll be told when it’s done. No point in calling Eddie every day “another bid in Eddie” and “rejected bid Eddie but we’re still talking”, etc.etc. He also knows the financial reality the club are hindered by. Premier League cartel are making sure Newcastle can’t compete on level terms with them and that’s the annoying factor in all this.
