Workout While Sick
Is working out while sick good or bad?
Here are some ground rules I’ve set for myself and clients when asked “Should you workout while sick?”
I operate from the standpoint that if symptoms are from the neck up, hitting a workout is fine.
That would mean even if there’s a sore throat, headache, congestion, and a runny nose, a workout isn’t entirely out of the question.
Of course, it might not be as comfortable as usual but it could do the body some good.
Conversely, if the symptoms are BELOW the neck, it’s best to rest.
These symptoms would be fever, cold sweats, chills, chest congestion, and an upset stomach.
Working out while sick can always be tricky so I use this simple framework to decide for myself and clients if it’s a good idea or not. At minimum, you can never go wrong with always doing what you can.
