Game of Thrones 7x06 Daenerys Targaryen see Jon Snow's scars.

I’ll never accept the way this show ended. Jon deserved better and so did she.

It's really such a shame this love between the two of them couldn't have served as a defining change for Daenerys's character. The way she cries in deep emotion at Jon Snow symbolically bending the knee and saying "I hope I deserve it". It was really beautiful. She was so taken aback by someone with so much nobility, grace, humility, and integrity choosing her to be his ruler by choice. It seemed like she was just starting to see the value in being a beloved leader vs a brutal conqueror. That winning the hearts of your people is far more valuable than conquering them outright. Perhaps I'm overvaluing the significance of this scene but it's one of the few where we see Daenerys so humbled, vulnerable, and questioning her worthiness as a queen out of the awe she feels towards the magnitude of Jon Snow's character.

It's such a shame Season 8 threw this foundation in the garbage and doubled-down on rushing her descent into madness. All this beauty and emotion in the end was for nothing.

just finished Game of Thrones today and man im devastated by that ending. the only way i can describe it is rushed in the worst way possible; not the ending Dany deserved.

THIS Dany would’ve persevered through all the crap that came her way and eventually, yes, the people would’ve come to feel the same way. I don’t even necessarily hate what they did to her character…I think it was obvious from the beginning that that was where her story was always heading….it’s how they got her there. She went from this version of Dany to Mad Queen over the course of 2-3 episodes, when it SHOULD have taken 2-3 seasons. At least then what happens in The Bells would’ve felt earned. Sigh.

One thing I don't understand is why there cannot be a "king and a queen" of the 7 kingdoms. Especally with the kind of games each noble plays in this universe, it would make for an interesting power dynamic.

Why can't Jon Snow have been a King even if Daenerys was the main ruler of the other kingdoms?
