Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Oak Park, IL was badly damaged by a fire in 2018. Their 2-manual, 8-rank Temple Pipe Organ was also damaged, prompting the church to search for a more versatile replacement instrument.
They selected a 3-manual, Rodgers Artist 599 hybrid organ. The Rodgers 599 has 47 speaking stops and 12 ranks of pipes (which is 4 ranks more than the original organ). This piece which was recorded by the church’s Music Director (Dr. Carl Heine) for worship on All Saints Day (2020). The work features the Pipe and Digital Principals of the various Divisions along with the rear Solo Trumpet(s).
The church has a marvelous acoustic for organ music and for singing. The new exposed Positiv Division speaks well into the Chancel providing support for a Cantor of Celebrant.
