This was a failing of his parents. Contract or not, that was a health issue that needed to be taken care of. The time should have been made for the care of the child. This is EXACTLY why shit like the Coogan law exists in the first place; otherwise adults will exploit the shit out of children.

If I'm his dad, I try to work with the cast and crew schedule and figure out how best to fit it in. If they refuse, then I schedule the surgery and they can fuck off. Let them try to sue.

And yet was still one of, if not the best, of the younger cast of actors. Rupert is incredible and I hate how he had endure all this pain because nobody cared for his health.

I 100% guarantee they had 2-6w of non filming time during editing and finishing stage of the movie, it’s frustrating that his parents didn’t find ANY time to get this done. Tonsillitis is SO PAINFUL. My friend got hers removed and she said it was the worst two weeks of her life.

Having worked in the film industry, I can tell you that had he spoke to the producer and the First Assistant Director they could have scheduled around shooting his scenes. He has a manager and parents that also could have advocated for him.

Tonsillitis is painful and awful feeling. Dude was in pain his whole childhood because of that. Poor poor excuses for not being able to get his tonsils removed.

Man, that sucks. My son had chronic tonsil issues and I was so scared to have him get the surgery (I've never had it, so it just seemed like a scary unknown).

My husband had had it done as a kid and he convinced me it was ok. So we did it and it vastly improved our son's life.

Doc said his tonsils were some of the largest he had ever seen. Our son had sleep apnea before (despite being only 9 years old, and thin).

After, no more apnea.

No more throat infections.

No more ear infections (a swollen throat can put pressure on the ear canals and actually cause infections because fluid can't drain)

He's had no major health issues since then, and that was 4 years ago.

I feel so bad for Rupert. I'm glad he finally was able to get it taken care of.

That could have gotten SIGNIFICANTLY worse than just tonsillitis. That infection could have spread and caused irreparable damage to other parts of his body, or even led to death

Even tho he couldn't scream, he did amazingly showing Ron's decent into background character syndrome and his frustration with it. I hope he's well. Don't know if he still acts but hope he's living life the best way he can

Suffering from tonsillitis is absolutely terrible. It not only burns your throat but makes your whole entire body feel extremely sick, weak and feverish. Not cool that they couldn’t let him have surgery or heal.
