The conscious brain really only does one thing at a time - it is a 'serial processor', not a 'simultaneous processor'. As we get older it gets harder to quell internal distractions, and so we end up 'code-switching' between tasks, believing that we are 'multitasking'. In fact, we are simply confounding and confusing ourselves, causing a refractory period impedes are progress and productivity. So, to be more productive this week - quit attempting multitasking - do one thing at a time, deliberately.
