Life after Gynecomastia Surgery

Gynecomastia surgery is performed to reduce breast size in men. The total recovery time is 4 to 6 weeks.

Don't drive for the first 3 days, while on pain medications. Take rest and eat light.

Walk at least 5 minutes every hour for the first 3 days to promote proper blood circulation.

Don't shower for the first 2 days following your surgery. You can take a sponge bath and avoid getting water on the bandages.

Rest and sleep at a 45-degree angle on your back for at least the first 3 days.

Patients need to wear compression bandages all the time - day and night, until asked by the doctor to remove them. You may only remove the bandage for showering.

Sedentary jobs can be resumed anywhere from 1-2 weeks following surgery.

Do not smoke for at least 1 week after surgery.

Avoid carrying a backpack or messenger bag over your shoulders for the first 2 weeks after surgery.

I had grade 4 gynecomastia and it was pretty severe, my surgeon told me I was the 2nd worse he's ever had, he removed 2 pounds of gland tissue. Now it's 3 weeks after my surgery and it looks great, my medicaid covered my entire procedure. My blood test showed I had low testosterone so I had to get on TRT Therapy but it helped get my surgery approved. It was a ton of glandular tissue too. My surgeon did a phenomenal job and I actually had a bunch of muscle underneath the gyno from doing constant push ups.

Had my surgery yesterday around noon. So it’s been about 24 hours now. No pain yet. Haven’t needed any meds. Just resting in bed. Compression wrap is really tight and making my ribs a bit sore but otherwise surprisingly going well.

I had surgery 2 days ago.
It's actually not that painful.
It's swollen, but I think it's getting smaller by the day.
I had it done in Munich, the doctor was great and did an excellent job.
I am very happy, it was very necessary mentally and physically.

I’m in day 2 after surgery. Still contemplating if I should take shower?! Dr said I can take shower but my gut says wait couple more days until the drains are removed. I use body wipes and shower waste down. My wraps are fairly tight but the more research I do the more complicated answer I get on how tight it should be. Looking forward to summer and wearing what I want. No more hiding!!!

Whoever is planning this surgery dont do it in the months of June July because it's the rainy season in india and it will take a lot time to heal and recover may take around 8-10 weeks..
Not an easy surgery to go through u have to go through a lot of pain and discomfort a but it's worth it in the end :)

Gone through my surgery, today is the 2nd day after surgery. The compressing bandage is still on as prescribed by doctor and will be removed after a week. It's really uncomfortable to wear this all the time. I still have pain on the cut areas and can fell while moving. Though from today am not feeling much pain may be due to painkillers. Hope everything will go fine.
