I am excited to share this song with you, inspired by the section of my book where I write about embracing my authenticity after years of being told that I was too this or too that, and so grateful to Kelly Boek for saying yes when I asked her to partner with me on this. I rediscovered this song earlier this year when it came up on my Facebook memory feed and have been playing it nearly every day since! As someone who’s neurodivergent (I’m on the autistic spectrum) this song resonates so strongly with me especially since I occasionally deal with people (including a couple of so called friends) who assume they can tell me how I should be doing just because I’m “higher functioning” and/or because they either know or work with others who are also on the spectrum and therefore seem to think that makes them an expert of my autistic experience. After cutting ties with those I feel a lot more free and chose to only surround myself with people who are lovingly supportive, respectful, nonjudgmental, and encourage me to improve myself in a positive manner instead of cutting me down and making me feel like I wasn’t good enough. ❤️

I have listened to this a few times every day since it came out. I LOVE THIS SONG!!! I recently bought blue jeans again. I was wearing skirts and dresses all the time trying to be "the good Christian girl" and make everyone feel comfortable around me. Screw it! I am going to be me and not what everyone thinks I should. My husband never cared either way, it was always outside sources that made me feel not worthy. I am me now-YES I AM!

I have been bullied by commenting all I was doing wrong or not. Nothing personal I've been told but apparently I was too loud, too vocal, my face wasn't looking nice enough when I was listening to other people, I wasn't making enough notes during meetings-I left and HR is on it now. this song resonates with me so much I have goose bumps every time I am listening to it.
