House of the Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus-Turkey

The House of the Virgin Mary is a Catholic and Muslim shrine located on Mt. Koressos in the vicinity of Ephesus, Turkey. The house was discovered in the 19th century by following the descriptions in the reported visions of Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich (1774–1824), a paralyzed German Roman Catholic nun and visionary, which were published as a book by Clemens Brentano after her death. One of Emmerich's accounts was a description of the house the Apostle John had built in Ephesus for Mary, the mother of Jesus, where she had lived to the end of her life.

Archaeologists who have examined the building believe most of the building dates from the 6th or 7th century but its foundations are much older and may well date from the 1st century AD, the time of Mary. The Catholic Church has never come out in favor or against the authenticity of the house, but nevertheless maintains a steady flow of pilgrims since its discovery.

I had the good fortune of going there while I was stationed near Istanbul, Turkey during the years 1966-67. As I recall, there is a gushing spring of fresh water coming forth from the ground almost next to the house. I also became aware of a powerful presence, a palpable energy in the whole area around and in the house. It felt like a holy place to me.

I had the fortunate bless of visiting the house of THE BLESSED MOTHER, during my Mediterranean Cruise in 1968. Praying and drinking of the water I asked her for some personal blessing, all of which came to pass, it was truly an amazing experience one which in my opinion would say impossible, THANK YOU BLESSED MOTHER !

Myself and my wife visited the house and shrine a few years ago we entered and u felt peaceful as we exited the house I noticed my wife was crying and I teased her for it. She pointed to my face and tears streamed down it. I felt like my soul was squeezed. As if I felt terrible loss but great love. Magical experience

I was diagnosed with stage 3-4 cancer and told to do whatever I wanted to do in the next year or I may never be able to after that. I went on a Mediterranean Cruise that stopped at Ephesus and took in the tour to the House of Mary. It was at the house that I felt that everything would turn out alright. It is very peaceful, in a spiritual way inside the house. I drank the water from the spring and left a note with my intentions. That was in 2007 and I am still here. Thank you Mother Mary. It is a very moving experience there. The house is watched over by Christian and Muslim holy women. It is a holy site for all.
