Everybody always thinks that the reason The Witcher spins around is because he has heightened reflexes, and is faster than humans.

But in the books, they talk about how the Witchers are efficient, and their movements are not wasteful. Spinning around wouldn't actually help you in a sword fight. Even if you could do it crazy fast. It doesn't take that much power to slice through somebody.

The Witcher wouldn't spin around just for the hell of it, so a more realistic interpretation of the pirouettes that are talked about in the book would be moving offline around an opponent to find an opening.

They also wouldn't be full spins😅

Geralt spining like a madlad is a game thing. In the books he usually moves on semi-circles o half turns, which I always have imagined as getting out of line of the incoming attack, so that half spin from the end of the video is pretty accurate

The books also mention "half turns" and "semicircles" a lot. I think that's in reference to the Mezza Volta, Fiore's term for the passing step.

Another thing to consider about the witchers is their swords. 40.5 inches total, with 13.25 being the hilt. That is a really long handle, and Living Anachronism has a video showing how much faster someone can swing a sword like that, that shorter blade and longer handle the blade a lot faster. And, and another thing to consider, most of his fights are against multiple opponents, bandits or nekkars or ghouls, so spinning would genuinely be useful when your getting mobbed
