I had an older version of this level, that would suck itself to a smooth wall surface. Unfortunately, one day the batteries died (there was no warning light on the unit) and it fell off the wall and destroyed itself :-(. By then they had stopped making it. Nice to see they brought it back!

It will not stick to textured drywall, like knockdown texture. I still use their older model, it has regular suction and a protractor. It also came with 2 tack pins to pin it into the drywall.

Who opened the opener? What came first the packet or the opener

Cool idea, I would pay extra if they had a built in battery that you could recharge rather than the AAA battery's though. Still might get one because that would be very useful for hanging up floating shelves and pictures.
